ongoing symptoms ..

Wednesday I had a colonoscopy to a reason of a positive FIT test of 184. Very relieved to find nothing sinister just my very sluggish and constipated bowels. Fast forward to this morning .. and the upper GI. Worst procedure ever, spent whole time gagging. However reason for pain etc was found in minutes with 3cm Hiatus Hernia found and non erosive Gastritisof the stomach. Wasn’ t well afterwards pain and dehydration meant few hours to recover. They kept saying normal temperature… I tried to explain…. Fluids & painkillers by drip. So glad felt well enough to get home. Another test done and I really Just feel my body is slowly letting me down now! :( xx

it’s late so I won’t say much, but just wanted to say I feel so sorry for you, you aren’t alone and thanks for sharing after such a torrid time.

I often feel that it’s not the loss of balance, mobility or even voice that will push me over the edge in the end, it’s the grinding and painful horribleness of the GI / bowel stuff.

So glad you are home now. Well done for achieving that. Rest and be kind to yourself.

You are right Gill, 'orrible bowel stuff is the worst symptom to manage. I'm seeing the PD nurse soon to demand a workable practical solution which doesn't involve spending 3 hours chained to the wc or buying a bigger shovel !

Hi

I'm so much better since having metoclopramide before bed. It's helped my constipation

Well done with all the tests

Was/is there any suggestion that the hiatus hernia and/or gastritis are related to MSA?

I don’t know but probably doesn’t help!

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that there could be a link between the MSA and the hiatus hernia - along the lines of laxity of muscles etc.

Hope you're feeling bit better now. Procedure sounds horrid experience for you.

How awful for yoou I always ask for sedation when I have to have that done. Good news are the end tho which must have helped more than any painkiller Sue x 😁
