Beginning of swallowing issues

I am new to this so bear with me. I started having real dry throat and mouth and I also feel like my esophagus is swollen. Is that what happens when you start to develop swallowing issues with MSA? Thank you for any information.

Have you contacted your GP? It may help and also make sure you have people around you... Sending good wishes.

Hi Rick. Welcome. It was my husband who had the MSA and I can’t now remember what he said about how his mouth felt when he started with his swallowing problems. I got the impression that it was coordinating his tongue movement that was the issue, but he may have had the symptoms that you are experiencing. As you will be understanding, people with MSA have a range of symptoms, I have always seen it like going to a’pick and mix’ counter and getting some of the myriad of things available. Usual questions! Have you joined the MSA trust if you are in the UK. There are fact sheets online and specialist nurses to talk to about worrying symptoms

It might help to eat softer food to see if that helps.

Best wishes, Diane

Hi Rick I also have msa and have started to have a dry mouth, Sometimes I woke up in the middle of the night and my tongue is stuck To the roof of my mouth so I would like to know also if this is part of the MSA I’m guessing it will be. Let’s hope we hear something soon

Check with your GP to see if you can rule out anything else.... Good luck. I believe that the symptoms are different for each person....

I think the symptoms are very individual. Perhaps check with the GP? Hope you get your answer....

My husband has MSA-C, he complains that his neck feels like it is swollen. Seems to be worse when he has sinus drainage, which usually will trigger the laryngospasms.
