When i heard Geoff had passed away last week my heart sank as he and Gill had been so close in their journey.
Today at 1100 ( and Gill was no good at numbers.. 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month ) she quietly slipped away…. nearly 15 years since onset.
She’d lost speech some time back but we had rebuilt communications with blinking and just this morning she’d confirmed with a blink that she wasn’t in any pain.. she was comfortable, pain free and surrounded by family. then all of a sudden she decided that was enough and let go of the fight.
to all those of you still out there on the course… run your marathon well and with some smiles, some laughter and lots of love ( and this comes from perhaps places unlooked for like carers who really care ) and you get to complete the marathon with your head up. What more can you ask
thanks to all those who have been “running” alongside us … we can’t thank you enough

Hi, I am so very sorry. My sincere condolences to you and your family. It sounds as if everyone around her made it as good as it could be. She is now pain free and at peace.
Sending you love and strength for the coming days.
I'm so sorry for your loss, you have been such a loving support for Gill. To continue your 11th hour theme, thinking of Geoff and Gill "we will remember them". Whilst we have never met either of them we felt close to your trials and tribulations over past months.
Now is the time for you to remember with happiness all the good times, forget the bad times and give some time to yourself.
Hello Ozmarlz, welcome to this forum albeit it's sad you need to be here. Without doubt you should be able to get many of your questions answered here; hopefully you will find it a friendly place to be.
Also one of the places that's well worth you seeking advice is from the MSA Trust specialist nurses. There's also loads of information on the MSA Trust web site.
When Jackie was first diagnosed and was having trouble turning in bed our local OT support team fitted some grab handles that fit under the mattress to help turn and to get out of bed.
I have to say Jackie now usually needs me to turn her however she is lucky in that she naturally has never turned much over night and so this doesn't bother her too much.
I'm sure others who have been along this journey of ours will have some other ideas.
So sorry for your loss , and glad Gill was surrounded with love and family , she is now at peace. You have done your very best for her throughout her journey. Thinking of you as you face the future and sending love and strength. Yes hold your head up high, you could not have cared. loved and done more
