Hi ,I was diagnosed with PV- Jak 2 positive in March this year at 56. However I have had various PV related symptoms for a number of years so suspect I have had it a lot longer. I am currently receiving treatment at Gloucester Royal with venesections and aspirin.
We are looking to move to the Torbay area early next year and wondered if anybody is receiving treatment at Torquay/Exeter/Plymouth hospitals and if there were any MPN specialists in those areas.
Kind regards
J

hi. I am cared for (and I really mean cared for) by the haematology team at Barnstaple but their consultants come from Exeter. Jason Coppell was the one listed as having a special interest in MPNs when I moved to Devon 8 years ago. He shares his office with Dave Veale who is also very knowledgeable with regard to MPNs and both very nice people. I have been seeing Jason mostly and he works closely with Prof Claire Harrison who I have seen at Guy’s in London. I don’t know the Plymouth team so someone else might recommend an MPN specialist in that area.
I hope the move goes well and good luck with your change of haematologist- always a bit of a stressful time. Best wishes. Jan
Hi Cat1968, I live near Totnes. I’ve just been through breast cancer treatment at Torbay hospital and it was NHS at its best. Having said that, I use Guys (Prof Harrison) for my MPN appointments- just because I’ve stuck with them since moving here 4 years ago. It’s interesting to read from beetle that there is a good team in Exeter. If you feel like a coffee and need any local knowledge when you’ve moved give me a shout, I’d love to welcome you to the area! X
Hi all, I've just moved to Kingsteignton so will be looking to change hospital in the new year. Do the Exeter team do phone consultations as well as in person. I'd assumed I'd be under Torbay but like the idea of a specialist as Peggy has not worked for me & I need to change treatment. I'd like to try Rux but ai don't think a regular haemologist would go for that.
