Back in hospital

Haven't posted here for some time as everything seemed to be going reasonably well after my SCT back in February. Today I got a call to come into hospital as an inpatient as there was something concerning with yesterday's blood tests. It turns out my bilirubin level has shot up to 75 and the doctors need to find out why. I am recovering from a bout of parainfluenza, a bit like normal flu but a different virus. So I've had some blood tests and initial check over by doctor and I'm now waiting for liver ultrasound and also a chest x-ray. There are a number of possible causes, could be due to my very high ferritin levels caused by nearly two years of RBC transfusions every two weeks, or a reaction between new meds for parainfluenza and existing meds, or GVHD from DLI's being given to boost chimerism, or VOD returning. Oh well just have to grin and bare another hopefully short stay in this NHS hostel.

yes, It seems it can be a myriad of things responsible. Glad you're being taken care of! I always try to keep my immune system as stable as possible by eating an autoimmune diet. This is particularly important with SCT, to keep the body as stable as possible. 🙏 Hope you are up and running soon. Anag
