Hi friends was wondering could there be a connection with way platelets rise quicker than they drop low ! Only I’m wondering in my case if I’m flushing a lot of my HU out my system? I was never told by my heam to drink more etc only something I picked up on the net ! I always take meds with large glass water like it says in the leaflet just a thought as my last blood results show a rise of 30 in past tests been around 5-10 in amount differences regards Holly

Too much water in take and other drinks ?
Hi Holly,
I wonder that,at the mo guzzling so much ....my platelets are low,but since my consultant raised H U to try and lower H C T two months ago, last bloods showed an increase in platelets !!All a puzzle.Keep cool....by the way I put a lemon and fresh mint in my large jug of H 20,transferred to a smaller one that I carry about from room to room, takes away the boredom of plain. Best wishes Sally
That’s interesting. The BC Cancer agency literature recommends lots of water. And my haemo also said that drinking lots of water helps platelets be less sticky, and that’s what we want in clot-prevention. I’d really doubt that water could flush out the HU. Others on here wil know more than I, though.
I don’t think so, I went through a period of drinking too much water. My haemo told me to cut down. My platelets were constant at they time.
