Following my recent post just a quick update. So I'm still in hospital with no positive reason identified as to why my bilirubin level had shot up so high or why it is now receding. I am having blood tests every day and had a chest x-ray Monday and hopefully a liver ultrasound today. Saturday morning they stopped me taking Aciclovir as they thought it was too much with the Ribavirin I had been prescribed for the Para flu. Then in the evening the result of the mouth and nose swab showed no sign off the Para flu virus so they stopped the Ribavirin as well and prescribed Famciclovir. Maybe it was the combination of Ribavirin and Aciclovir that was the problem? It's all a bit frustrating as I have no pain or discomfort and feel pretty darned well, I was out playing golf on Monday last week for the first time since my SCT. Any way I hope that once the Ultrasound has been done maybe they'll let me back home.Stay safe everyone.
Chris.

Wow, you really have it going on. I just wanted to say stay positive and hopefully you will get some answers soon. I know being in a hospital is sometimes where we don't want to be , however this has crept up on you , so it's good for you to rest for a while. You are still in a positive place and it's good to hear that by your message. Stay safe
Here's hoping it was the combination of the drugs throwing your blood work. You'll soon be back on a frosty golf course wondering what that was all about.
iam really sorry hear about your issues iam also post sct 6 months I did develop a condition of the liver called vod my bilirubin went up really high I filled with fluid to point i resembled the marshmallow man from ghostbusters 30kg of fluid in space of half and hour my whole body was swollen except my forearms strange I also turned yellow I had a course of iv drugs for 24 days your liver has been through a lot in essence processing and distributing high dose chemo that’s in essence like poison so it’s been through a lot but you are in hospital and they will keep an eye on you make sure to intervene and you will soon be better the iv drugs really helped me and iam ok now although I have gvhd of the stomach and bowel I wish you all the best and I hope your soon back on your feet and back home recovering well best wishes Leigh
Thanks for relating your experience, so sorry you had VOD, I had that while still in hospital post SCT so can sympathise. Yes I know I'm in the best place and being monitored so I should be grateful, it's all the not knowing that is frustrating. Hope to be getting ultrasound this afternoon as I'm nil by mouth today. Also I've been having blood thinning injections every day but again no one has really explained what for, I've never had blood thinners before.
