Such hassle , chemist can't get prescription, even though I was told on Monday to get them from chemist. Rang surgery,Secretary had me in tears, said I never gave them hospital letter given them in December . No wonder it wasn't on my notes. My daughter rang hospital, spoke chemo department and they are giving me a prescription for the hospital chemist. We're thinking of reporting this latest catastrophe as if I had taken new iron tablets the whole thing would have sent my blood through the roof. I'm not happy at all.

so sorry I get my drugs from hospital as gp does not provide only hospital
It sounds like you are having a horrible time.
I don’t know if this will help but it’s my understanding that unless a GP accepts responsibility for the safe prescribing of Hydroxy for a haematology patient then it’s not possible for a GP to prescribe it.
If the GP is willing to accept that responsibility then a formal Shared Care agreement between haematology and the GP needs to be put in place.
My repeat Hydroxy prescriptions are issued by my GP but only because I asked for a Shared Care agreement and my GP was happy to prescribe it. My haematology team say many GPs are reluctant and will not take on the responsibility for Hydroxy prescriptions.
Yes, report all those incompetents and also complain to Senior Partner of GP surgery. 6 GP partners at my GP surgery none of whom work more than 2 days a week and only 1 who is worth seeing.
I've asked about getting my hydroxycarbamide from a local pharmacy, as it'd be a lot more convenient for me, but I was told it can't be dispensed by a high street pharmacist, I have to go to a hospital pharmacy for it.
There’s a note on my prescription list that the Rux is provided by hospital only. Half the time they haven’t got it and I have to go back another day. I’ve learned to check the bag they give me when I collect it as three times it’s been wrong. My doctor prescribes a few too many so if they haven’t got it I don’t run out. The hospital pharmacy hasn’t grown with the hospital and has difficulty coping with the amount of prescriptions, plus they’re always short staffed.
My heamo sent initial prescription through to gp and it's through them I get my tablets. I would complain about both hospital.
I would report this to the PALS Department of the hospital to stop this happening again. Really feel for you as it's horrible when no-one understands the importance of our medication and how stressful it is when you can't get it. I had a bad time collecting my Anagrelide from the hospital pharmacy and dreaded going there as the pharmacist kept asking if I needed 3 months worth and did I know how expensive it was - really upsetting and in front of the other patients. Eventually my haematologist has arranged for this to be sent to a large Boots which receives other hospital prescribed medications and I can collect it there - phew! Hope things get better for you.
My hydroxy is dispensed by my local pharmacy on a prescription from the hospital after my appointment. It’s changes according to the haem. results.
So sorry to read this - had a similar situation today - dismissed by cold and clinical receptionist...thought they were here to help....
My hydroxy is dispensed by the hospital pharmacy after each haematology appointment so I get 3 months at a time as it can't be done at local pharmacy. The hospital is quite a distance away so they transfer the meds to the local community hospital for me to pick up.
yes I always have to get from hospital as my surgery not allowed to prescribe mine either. Ordered always by Haemotology . Julia . UK 👌
