Who to complain to !

We should all get together and complain. Or am I still in a mood and should be good to take it. My daughter isn't well but she's my carer and drives her car . She has to go to the hospital to get my tablets. She has scoliosis like me and is walking doubled over in pain. What else is there but her to get them. Chemist doesn't deliver anymore unless you pay £12. A month. No one can afford that a year. Things are going in the wrong direction. I know a new government of ordinary people's.sorry about that but.

I think as patients we really need help at times to understand how NHS systems work.

Try asking your GP (not a receptionist) if they would consider issuing your Hydroxy prescriptions under a SHARED CARE AGREEMENT with your haematology department. If they will agree to put that arrangement in place then you or anyone else with your permission will be able to collect your Hydroxy from a local pharmacy.

If the GP isn’t willing to take on the responsibility for prescribing Hydroxy then it will have to be issued by the hospital pharmacy.

I would think the other more expensive Mpn meds can only be issued by hospital pharmacies due to NHS budgeting and approval restrictions.

This link may help with how Shared Care works for patient, specialist and GP:

Ps: I have collected my Hydroxy from local pharmacies for 9 years now under a Shared Care Agreement. Never had a problem but I do have a helpful GP.

Thanks. Will see if Wales has a care agreement. Have tried to see my notes, as had anemia for years and other conditions similar and given iron tablets moved and bloods checked for more often and alarm bells looked into. But Wales you have problems not like England. I feel sometimes I live on the moon, not this planet.

We all struggle at times and you have my every sympathy. I have a relative who trained under NHS Wales and is now living and working in Wales. He is full of praise for the training he received and for his colleagues but the pressures on staff do sound dire too.

I can’t really comment on the government stuff. But I hear you on the sometimes it feels good just to complain!😆. I told my nurses at work that this year I want us to go to one of those places where you can just smash stuff! Thought it would be a good release and team building exercise! I am here if you just want to complain. I will listen.

Hi, sorry you are having these problems. My hospital will deliver to my home (I am not housebound), I tried to get them to deliver to a local pharmacy but that was not 'part of their process'. They ring me the day before to say they will be delivering the next day just to make sure I am in. I think it is a crazy system and a waste of NHS money but the hospital is twenty miles away if I want to pick it up myself and you end up waiting for a least an hour even though the medication has been ordered. It sounds like home delivery would be better for you if that service is available in your area. In some cases the GP can prescribe under the guidance of the haematologist and that would mean just picking the meds up from your local chemist shop. Failing that write to the hospital chief executive which I did recently about something else and ended up with quite a good outcome or get in contact with PALS (patient advice and liaison service), there will be a contact for them in your hospital, they are very helpful. good luck, it is so infuriating.

Thanks for your input. In Wales we don't have PALS . I now have a (sister) that I can ring at the chemo department,, beginning to feel I exist.
