I have been looking into the benefits of red light therapy for muscle issues and wondered if anyone had tried this - I can’t see any contradictions with hydroxi and will be mainly using this on my neck , upper back and thyroid areas - I know this won’t help ET as such but using for other issues. Thank you Becky

If you have skin cancers, timorous cancers, take prescriptions that cause light sensitivity such as Hydroxy or antibiotics like doxycycline or tetracycline, thyroid disease or other diseases like lupus, red light therapy should not be used. The Mito Clinic website has a detailed article about red light therapy. If you use medications such as Tetracycline, Digoxin (used for heart irregularities) and photosensitizing drugs (e.g., tranquilizers, sulfa drugs, oral anti-diabetic drugs, antidepressants, and steroids), you should not use red light therapy.
Thank you - it’s all a bit confusing as my chemotherapy nurse said yesterday it was ok on hydroxi especially as my dose is only 500mg 4 times a week as been reduced as platelets responded so quickly and well and back below 500 - seen a few peer reviewed studies that it helps the thyroid also which has resulted in reduction of medication for certain thyroid conditions
During all the tests I have been tested for lupus multiple times and luckily nothing indicated in bloods that I have it
I have used red light therapy, but have not noticed it helping with my muscle pain. Because my husband is a healthy lot we have a very good red light device at home, which he uses daily. I have used it occasionally and have tried to use it once a week although I usually forget. Like so many things that I have tried I really can’t tell any difference with it. We also have an inexpensive home sauna and I think that that does help with muscle relaxation and muscle pain.
Thank you! I think they say use the lamp 3-5 times a week - I’ve ordered one and gonna try 5 mins for a couple of days on my cervical spine and see if any rashes or anything and if not try and go up to 5 mins twice a day and then the 10 twice as recommended - hoping it gives some relief on my neck - do you have one of those homemade infrared saunas? They sound amazing! I have hyper mobility and supposed to be really beneficial
