Grounding? And other natural remedies?

Curious about results from "grounding."

Grounding refers to absorbing the natural electrons from the earth (ground.) By standing barefoot outside, or by using a variety of tools developed to ground while indoors. Tools such as cords that plug into the littl round hole in a three-prong electrical outlet. That hole is connected to a wire that goes to a "grounding stake" outsied all modern buildings. that grounding stake is a metal stake in the ground. The cord then conencts to a conductive mat. You can stand on the amt, rest your feet on it while sitting or put it in your bed.

I have ET, and take 1,000 mg of hydroxy urea daily. I have significant fatigue. Or I did have it. Used to need a nap every day, one hour +. Pretty much have eliminated that need, about the time I started grounding every night. (grounding pad in my bed overnight)

However, I also started a new supplement about that time. Shilajit. Look it up, to hard to explain hers, but the short version is that it is supposed to increase energy and decrease fatigue.

To make this all even more complicated, a few months before I started grounding I started intermittant fasting. I eat dinner at about 7:00, no breakfast, then lunch at about 1:00. Also no caffieine.

Curious if others have tried any of thes enatural remedies, and their results.

Sounds like you are doing wellWould be interesting to see if it's all you are doing or one or two particular things.

I'm thinking if you eliminate one for a while ,see if you feel the same.

I know someone who had a grounding thing she put under her bed . She slept better at first but then same as usual.

I like Intermittent fasting

Never heard of Shilajit till now . So many different remedies to try

Did you get recommended it?

Hi PMac314, happy to see you are into alternative remedies.I personally take about 20 tablets of supplements a day, I cut on carbs and increase healthy fats and I feel good. Wish I could sleep more but my life load is often unforgiving.

I very much support and believe intermittent fasting is a way to self heal our body. I tried multiple times 16/8 and once a week 24 hours no food, but I felt fatigued and gave up. Maybe due to my physical work and daily gym regime.

I just started to follow Eddie Abbew on Instagram and I am going to try intermittent fasting again his way. Maybe 14/10 at start.

I also heard of Shilajit but haven't tried. Sounds like it is working for you so I assume it is safe for us.

Wishing you well.

What is good for someone may not be for another. Its always best to discuss with an integrative Dr. . I'll look up Eddie A .

Interesting read. I have ET & on Peg Interferon. Tiredness stopped once on this medication. I also swim regularly & lots of walking . I do not take supplements & drink coffee still . But always lots of water . We are all different but I am not a lover of popping anything into my digestion that is not an essential & hospital approved medical necessity.

Apart from occasional Paracetamol I have never taken anything until my ET diagnosis made it essential . No fatigue on Peg Interferon but there was on Hydroxy hence I came off it . Julia . UK.

I discovered grounding by accident years ago by going barefoot in the garden. It just felt great walking on the grass and (weather permitting in UK) I do it as often as possible. Also have a mat but it doesn’t seem to give the same sense of wellbeing. Have recently ordered a pair of shoes which allow you to be grounded and am interested to see if they give the barefoot feeling when going on walks. It would help for you to know which new remedy works so perhaps one at a time would tell you. Best of luck

Just don’t put anything into a 3 pin socket in the UK: the 240volts can kill you.

Hi there well done on doing all that you can. I heartily recommend natural approaches - my mantra ever since diagnosis has been to be the best that I can be (with or without PV) so methods that I have found to be helpful are:

Grounding - yes I have a sheet on my bed and it helps to give me a deeper and more continuous sleep

Supplementation - this will vary between individuals of course but vit b's, vit D, mitrochondrial support and omega 3s are my go to's with other things as and when required

NAET (natural allergen elimination technique) has been a game changer for me, with my platelets now having lowered with no meds, aside from aspirin and venesection around 5 times a year to keep the HCT at an acceptable stable point, PLTS have red from 1500 to 900 over the last year (I am 7 years into my PV journey)

Also general advise such as high nutrient and varied diet, less gluten, structured (vortexed) water, to give optimum hydration, reflexology and massages to keep me in good shape, daily exercise, a simpler life style (working on that one still) gratitude and daily ceremonial cacao. Much less alcohol, special occasions/ a weekend drink or two, only now and again!

Too much to detail here - but if anyone is wishing for more detail on anything listed I shall do my best to explain further. This dis-ease has been a game changer for me and ironically in many ways for the better honoring my miraculous body, as she copes with her new normal :)

Sending you all my Love, Sarah

Very interesting PMac314. I’m not sure why but I stopped grounding after doing it for just short of a year. I’ve been thinking maybe I should bring it back in having stopped for almost the same amount of time. I’d go to my local park 3-4 days a week, socks and shoes off for around 20-30 minutes. I’d do stretching and yoga poses but have taken to doing that at home. In the UK London so when I was doing it sometimes it was in the rain! I’m going to consider bringing that back in my life as it did feel good.

I’ve been ‘water fasting’ regularly for many years. Every day 18/6 and then one day a week I only drink water for the whole day. I do love it. I’m ET JAK2 V617F on Pegysis Inteferon. 63yrs old. Fatigue is my battle.

After swimming (more like a cold plunge!) off the coast of Belfast Northern Ireland last November I’m Cold plunging in my bath with frozen bottles of water from my freezer. I’ve built up to 7 minutes, just once a month but it is exhilarating!

Thanks for your post. I’ll look into the Shilajit.

Yours

John

I had been taking shilajit for well over a year and did find an increase in my energy levels and my ability to get a great sleep at night. In the last month I have painted my bedroom from top to bottom, made a start on tidying up the gardens, washing my own car. Took on 2 senior rescue large breed dogs with double long haired coats that require lots of work, showering and trimming their coats myself.

I read recently that it does you good to come off it for a while which I did about two weeks ago. I have definitely felt lethargic and sleepy but sometimes had difficulty falling asleep at night. The last two days I have fallen asleep in my chair in daytime and again have little to no energy.

Tomorrow I plan on getting my mojo back and will put a small pea sized amount back into my morning coffee. I did wonder if it worked but this being the first time I have stopped it, I definitely noticed the difference.

thank you for your post and for everyone else’s responses. I had not tried shilajit but when I just mentioned it to my husband, he happened to have some so I am about to try it right now. I have a naturopath that I have had for 20 years and she has me on quite a few natural supplements. I have et and am jak 2 positive. I have been on Pegasys for two years now which was a game changer for me because I was very sick on hydroxyurea prior to that. I take 3 to 4 saunas a week and a few months ago we bought a cold plunge and I am using that around 3 to 4 days a week so that my total time is the recommended 11 minutes or more. I think that the cold plunge has helped with inflammation, although not eliminated it. I am now able to do yoga poses that I was not previously able to do because of the inflammation and a pinched nerve in my low spine. It is always hard for me to tell what is working for me. I do still struggle with some fatigue, but I swim or hike daily and am able to do my yoga and weights. I am much less fatigued since starting Pegasys. I also have been doing intermittent fasting for around five years. Again, it’s hard to tell what effect it’s giving me, but it actually is something that I enjoy since I never really liked eating breakfast early in the morning. Since my blood tends to be thick, other than taking turmeric and ginger, I occasionally take black seed oil, which is nigella seed oil, and I find that it thins my blood very quickly. I really do appreciate your post and the responses from others because I learned so much here and don’t know what I would do without this forum. I wish you continued healing and wellness

Deborah.

Thank you for your post and all the replies. I will have to study the comments to understand them properly. I have PV since 2005 and have been on Pegasys since 07. It's been a miracle drug for me even though it took a while to tolerate it and I still have a 'down' day after the fortnightly injection of .45.Our village has reiki offered for donation once a week in the community centre. I started going months ago and I am beginning to think that it is the reason I feel more alert and energised. After years of being sluggish and weary I seem to be emerging into a more level state.

I also started taking black seed oil at about the same time so who knows? I now need to find a solution to ease the aches and pains. Cold water exposure is not a possibility as I would be itching insanely for ages afterwards. But very hot baths avoid it and they act like a sauna.
