Two members of my family have Covid.. My mum is suffering from ET. She bever got vaccinated cos she got scared at that time due to many cases of thrombosis and sudden deaths we had in my country.. Anyone else who hasn't got the vaccine and went through Covid. We were maked and kept distance and all but these days everyone seems to have gotten it. Did you try the Paxlovid treatment? My dad's GP said we should wait a bit because this has some serious side effects. Thanks everyone for your replies in advance. Wishing you all a Happy New Year and good health

Hi. I am not vaccinated and I have ET. I've had covid twice. The first time was brutal but it was the Delta variant that caused more severe symptoms in most people. The second time I got covid it wasn't nearly as bad.

"Vaccinated people are the ones who are now more susceptible to covid, so there's no advantage to vaccination." - that's quite a conspiracy theorist-y statement to make; if it were backed up by science, it would require believing that our governments and medical establishments are deliberately encouraging us to get shots that make us more susceptible to illness. What would be their motivation to do that?

Am under a leading haematology department in a London hospital. When told to get vaccinated I did as I was told. Have had 8 vaxes so far and no Covid despite the fact that all of my friends and neighbours have had it - some more than once. Coincidence?

Could you supply the source that suggests being vaccinated makes you more susceptible please? I’ve never heard this before.

Look up Dr. Malone or Dr McCullough on Substack. Look up VAERS report by US government on adverse reactions to vaccines

Hi there

I got Covid for the first time before I was able to have one of my boosters. I was prescribed Paxlovid. It wasn’t very pleasant to take - it leaves a really nasty taste in your mouth - but I was over Covid within the week with no lasting effects (ongoing fatigue, cough etc) and no rebound. The thing with the treatments for Covid is you have to get in quickly otherwise they aren’t effective. I’m not sure I’d rush to take it again but then I’m fully vaccinated so fingers crossed, if I was infected, hopefully the infection would be mild. There’s a lot of Covid around now and people are getting quite sick.

[UPDATE: The following paragraph was in response to a post from another member to PHGR which has now been deleted from this thread.]

I definitely wouldn’t take Hydroxychloroquine. It’s been proven to be completely ineffective against the treatment or prevention of Covid and can lead to some serious side effects in relation to heart health. The reason there was apparently 'no Covid' in parts of Africa is that no data was collected! Various Governments were in denial that Covid existed and there were no treatment or prevention programmes. I know this from first hand experience when my son was due to go to Tanzania in summer 2020.

Hope your family recovers well and your mother stays healthy. Maybe you can encourage her to read the information on Covid and the risks (of both the infection and the vaccines) on the MPNVoice or one of the blood cancer websites. So much more reliable and current than some the information flying around especially at the height of Covid.

I live in the Uk.

Quite frankly I think you’re all barking mad and totally mistaken. Absolute rubbish spoken about conspiracy - I think you’ve all watched too many episodes of the X files!!

I have had 7 Pfizer vaccines ( had covid once before vaccination but it wasn’t too bad - fingers crossed won’t get it again) a pneumonia vaccine. 3 flu vaccines, and my first Shingrix vaccine.

I’m 70, extremely well. Lots of energy, feel great and walk our dogs twice a day up the fell ( small mountain) behind the house.

Vaccines of course are a personal decision. I certainly don’t regret having mine. I suggest you do your research and insist on having the most expensive one.

Best wishes and Happy New Year

My husband and I were not vaccinated for covid. He is 86 and has ET. WE never got covid infection until this August and we caught it from someone who had had multiple vaccines ( so the vaccine does not prevent transmission). I took a legal prescription of Ivermectin and recovered quickly. It was a bad cold (I am 73). My husband was sicker than I and took longer to get over it (he did not want to take the Ivermectin). He recovered and is back to his usual healthy self. His platelets are 800 to1000 and only on a baby aspirin and (and a bunch of supplements) and he has no other ET symptoms. We live in Florida and our Surgeon General has called for a halt the use of mRNA vaccines because of serious safety concerns that FDA has NOT addressed. So who do you believe?

There is a recent good quality report showing a benefit for long covid by Metformin discussed here:

healthunlocked.com/mpnvoice...

It doesn't reduce the acute disease but more recently long covid is a particular concern as its risk rises with each infection. But, like Paxlovid, it requires starting early.

This report also added further evidence against Hydroxychloroquine well discussed by Ebot here.
