I tested positive for covid today, my husband has had a bad chest for a few days but his covid test on Thursday was negative, today though it was positive, so I thought I’d better do a test too. Two lines came up immediately! I’ve got a bit of a sniffy nose and a bit of a cough but that’s all - so far.
I registered the test results and a couple of hours later had a text from the nhs to say I was entitled to antiviral drugs if I needed them. So, in my case the system is working. Don’t know where we’ve got it from as neither of us are mixing much and have been mask wearing etc.
Hopefully I won’t need the antivirals but pleased to have been offered them.

I hope you both feel better soon, thank you for letting us know that you were offered the medication it’s reassuring to know. Best wishes for a speedy recovery x
Hi, you had the same experience as my friend who tested positive the same time as I did ( see my response to Lizziep), You need the antiviral in the first five days otherwise of testing positive otherwise it did not work. I rang my GP initially who knew nothing about the antiviral drug (worrying) so I knew at that point I was flogging a dead horse. Glad I rang haematology, they did everything for me. I pity anyone who does not have the confidence to challenge 'the system' where do these poor people end up I often wonder.
When I registered my positive test on the covid nhs app I was contacted pretty swiftly and advised to get antivirals. It was all pretty easy to sort and I didn't even need to contact gp surgery. Credit where credits due. Hope you feel better soon.
i didnt get any response from NHS when I recorded my positive test . I had to contact 111 and repeat the call 2 days later , symptoms getting worse and and no call back from the local CMDU. So antivirals stated on day 3 couriered from St. George's Tooting. Even the following day there was an improvement in symptoms. Now 5 days later I am feeling well , with a cough remaining.
Oh no! Hope it stays as it is now..Im about to go and have Easter lunch with my family. First time that we’ll be all together for over 2 years. I’m a bit nervous but excited.
Thank you for the good wishes, I suppose it was only a matter of time before we got it despite being careful, I'm glad I've had the jabs. I don't know anyone we've mixed with (very few) who has got or had it so maybe someone has had it and doesn't know and is passing it on.
I tested positive on Tuesday, just thought it was a cold starting. If it had not been for the fact that I had a test kit in stock I would not have been any the wiser. I just rang my haematology dept and they set the wheels in motion for me to receive the anti viral drug which arrived to my door the next day, how is that for service. I am out and about a lot, gym, leisure centre, cafes and mixing with friends so I am amazed that I have avoided it for so long. It gave me confidence knowing that I have had four vaccines now, plus the anti viral, I feel fine and have spent the week 'keeping a low profile', getting stuck into my garden. Good luck and I hope your symptoms are not to severe.
Hope you are well again very soon. We have just all recovered too and thankfully not too many problems and no anti viral drugs needed. I gather from the haemo nurse you need to have these within the first five days of having covid if you are going to take them.
Thank you. I did a test on Saturday, but may have had it before then, so far symptoms aren't too bad, just like a cold, hopefully the 4 jabs I've had are stopping me getting worse.
Hi, Wishing you mild symptoms and a speedy recovery.
I had to contact 111 to get the antiviral in motion. Got know where with GP or Hematology. Once i'd had the antiviral my GP called twice to check my symptoms.
