COVID

Today I tested positive for the first time. My husband picked it up last Sunday and incubation time only 2 to 3 days. Did anyone with intermediate MF got access to antivirals in the UK and which one is best. How ill did you feel?.

I also have the auto immune disease sarcoidosis for which I am on immunosuppressants and a whole array of pills for heart issues and arthritis and inflammatory pain. Christmas will be more tissues than tinsel but hope I get through it ok.

Hiya, I have MF and recovering from my first bout of COVID. I had moderate symptoms, including body aches and loss of taste and while I feel 90% better after 9 days, I'm still testing positive. Tylenol took the aches away, NyQuil helped me sleep and a neti pot is flushing the nasty away. I didn't take any antivirals. I can't answer your question but I can sympathize, offer comfort and share my experience. Feel better soon!

I haven't had covid but I did get my consultant to write me a letter saying that I would be eligible for antivirals if I were to catch it. He sent a copy to my GP. Hopefully if it were to happen this letter will help me get treatment.

The antiviral most oft prescribed here in the U.S. is Paxlovid. It has been efficacious for many but, if prescribed and to be effective, must be started usually within three days of onset, not necessarily from when a positive test was performed. It is considered generally safe with an MPN, at least by my specialist, but you should certainly ask before using it. Suggest you reach out quickly to your GP in case it is to be prescribed. Hope you feel better.

Thank you for the info, I think they use paxlovid in the Uk too.

Sorry to hear about the COVID infection, particularly at this time of year. Wishing you both a speedy recovery.

I have MF and after returning from a 5 day break in Gibraltar I felt feverish and very weak. My companion managed to get test kits the following day and I tested positive. I was by now feeling very weak and I phoned my Haematology nurse who realised I couldn't string 2 words together without running out of breath. She arranged my visit to hospital and I was in for 2 days. I was put on two drips, one a very strong antibiotic and also a saline drip, and I had the Paxlovid medication for 5 days, but my Ruxolitinib was stopped for that period. After the second night I was feeling much better and allowed home. It took 20 days to test negative! I wish everyone a peaceful and comfortable Christmas/New year.
