I avoided Covid for 3 years and then went on a 3 week cruise around Cape Horn. I got Covid from a friend that we were traveling with. I had a fever, chills, body aches and was tired. I started Paxlovid because I had to travel home. Wore a mask and stopped Paxlovid after 3 doses. The taste in my mouth never went away and it was vile. Then I developed diarrhea and dizziness. It was not worth taking for me. It has been 12 days from first I have a bit of a stuffy nose. I will recover. Paxlovid can help many people but it was just not for me.

my husband is a musician. He was on tour and was the first to get Covid and was sent back home. Daily the number of Covid sick in the orchestra increased and 27 were sent back home in four days. 10 of them took Paxlovid properly. My husband felt awful, but he continued the full dose. Five days later, they were all playing in the orchestra again. Three days later half of them had a Covid relapse that was worse than when they first got sick. My husband had three Pfizer, vaccinations, my daughter two. Since the vaccination had made me extremely sick, had leaky veins in my legs and was losing my mind. I did not take a third. I got rid of the spike proteins with bio residence therapy, which gave me my health back my daughter and I caught the Covid from my husband and although I had no vaccine in my body, all three of us had Covid the same. It did not affect my platelets. I am 58 and have had six TIAs. I did take natural supplements to get myself healthy. 12 g of best, natural vitamin C spread throughout the day, about 90 mg of Zink proline propolis 20,000 IUs of vitamin D daily. The only thing that persisted for a while was the cough. It took about a month for my lungs to open up properly too deep breathing.

hope to have helped

Like many others I was super careful, shielded and avoided Covid for three years. Went to my first big social occasion, a wedding, and guess what …?

I took Paxlovid. It is utterly vile. The vile taste does not go away. I tried melting chocolate on my tongue before and after taking it and it took the edge off. Momentarily. I persevered. And I seem to have got over Covid pretty quickly with no apparent ongoing side effects. In fact less than many others I know who also had mild symptoms but suffered persistent ongoing tiredness. Then again, I’m always tired with PV!!

The general advice is to keep going with the Paxlovid. I decided best to embrace its vileness. (Any upset stomachs might of course be the Covid.)

Hi, I’m in UK and am meant to have anti viral access when have Covid because of having an MPN. I went on first holiday for 3 years in July ‘22 and had Covid within 2 days! I didn’t end up with anti viral support due to GP/hospital not getting their act together and was pretty grim with covid for 7 days. But having read the above comments on taking it I’m glad that I didn’t! It looks as though those comments are not UK based as it seems the norm to take anti viral (US?). It’s not the norm in UK.

Hello, I too am UK based and Covid finally got me Christmas day evening. I am ET and well controlled on hydroxycarbamide, and fully vaccinated. I contacted 111 online as I was getting pretty unwell and had an a call back and the ambulance within 45 minutes. Taken to hospital for low blood oxygen levels and allowed out 4am Boxing Day morning, having started antivirals. They knocked the Covid symptoms back in 36 hours which was great. However, what happened next is that I had Covid rebound with some symptoms returning for a few weeks. Coincidentally I also had a bladder check which resulted in weeks of bladder infections! Presumably as my bloods/immunity levels were now all over the shop! I think the antivirals were good but be aware that may not be the end of the story.

My story is very different. I didn't get any vaccines and at the first sign of covid I took Ivermectin, zinc, quercetin, extra vitamin D and a few other things. I basically threw the kitchen sink at it very early in the infection. I never had fever or difficulty breathing. It was basically like a bad cold. I was 75 at the time and had had PV for 9 years. My daughter, on the other hand, took Paxlovid and said it ripped up her stomach. I had no side effects from anything I took.

same here; my husband and I are 75. My daughter, 50, grandsons, 15 and 25; none of us took any vaccinations. Got Covid but we, too, took Ivermectin, Zinc, Vit C, D3. Were over the Covid in 5 days.

Hi Daisyduke40 - I had Covid in September and received the anti-viral medication. As a result, I wasn't badly affected by Covid - a couple of days in bed and a fair bit of fatigue (nothing new to people with an MPN) I have ET Jak2.

After three years, my wife and I finally got Covid. Although masked, she picked it up in a crowded airport (probably) and I got it from her. I just finished my 5-day regimen of Paxlovid last night. The taste is certainly nasty, but I can easily deal with that compared with having pretty much every Covid symptom except shortness of breath earlier this week. I'm still very tired, but it's hard to gauge how much worse than I usually am just living with PMF. Thank God for the vaccines and Paxlovid!
