Anyone try Methylene Blue?

Hi everyone - I'm a 66 year old male, diagnosed with E.T. (Jak2) 2 years ago with platelets around 1.6 M. I was experiencing tennis ball sized Hematoma's and bruising without injury, as well as visual distortions and some facial numbing. Currently taking 12 - 500mg. Hydroxyurea a week to keep platelets in check, as well as a baby asprin daily. They are ranging now from the 400 to 500 range most of the time, sometimes a bit higher. Red blood count down to 3.4 last check so that's running a bit low. I additionally had a series of upper left lung massive bleeds last late April/May/22 that led to the removal of half my lung. There is no sign of disease in my lungs, but I'm had asthma my whole life practically. So I've had the usual achy body and was taking 2 to 3 acetaminophen daily to mange that. I have been hiking 2 -3 hours almost every day and that would generally make me feel much better then before exercising so that is very important to me.

Anyways - my cousin about a month ago whom has a lot of health issues suggested maybe I look into trying Methylene Blue to help. So I've been taking that for 2 weeks today - well, the results have been quite remarkable. I feel much much more like my old self - havn't taken a pain killer now for 6 days. I don't have the hung over type tiredness I was getting at all the last 10 days. Energy levels also higher.

Not saying others in my profile should try this but it sure seems to have had a what I would call miraculous change for me. So am wondering if others have tried this?

Have a good weekend all

Dale

Hi Dale

This sounds very interesting. I just checked on this compound and it can improve many brain and mitochondria functions. How much are you taking and also what form and dosage? I am not jumping straight into this but will follow with interest. Possibly having had partial lung removal something like this may have stronger effect for you. Look forward to hear how it progresses. Thanks for the information

Hi Anita

I used to be an aquarium hobbyist and used Methylene Blue as an antifungical agent that worked well. That was a liquid product but you want to buy only pure methylene blue being more pure then what is used in aquariums and such.

I sourced the product from Amazon - USP Grade Methylene Blue Powder - 5 gm Brand: CZTL. I paid $90/Cdn. for 5 grams, you can buy 1 gram for $30. It comes with a certificate of purity.

If you are taking drugs for depression that boost your serotonin levels it can be dangerous to use, as using Methylene Blue can boost your serotonin levels so then it can be too much.

So it comes in 1 gram jars in powder form - you have to be careful as it is very staining so best to mix it in the sink. I put the powder in a small empty clean jam jar - add 100 ml. of water. Mix it. Dosage is 1 ml. taken out with a small pipette of sort that comes with it - put that in a glass and fill it with water and drink it. My cousin usually has 2 doses a day (she uses it for other purposes) both my wife and I take one dose a day. My wife feels like she is feeling less low on energy then she was in the mornings.

Interesting that the one usage it is used for it this in humans. Methylene blue is only FDA-approved to treat a condition called methemoglobinemia, a type of blood condition. My understanding is this condition is when the oxygen in red blood cells are locked in so are dysfunctional. The methylene blue changes the red blood cells back to how they originally were.

I am really amazed in how much better I am feeling. It's only been 2 weeks thou but I havn't had any period where I felt like this since before E.T.

sounds a fab response. I’ve notice AnBee has researched and it can improve the mitochondria functions. I believe that’s linked to fatigue.

I’m going to look it up now.

to everyone, before taking any supplements you are advised to discuss this with your haematologist and your GP, as there may be contra-indications with your current medication.

hi Dale. I am so glad that you posted your use of. Methylene blue, and your experience of it. My naturopath recommended it to me to help to oxygenate my blood. I have been hesitant to try it, because when I looked up drug interactions, it didn’t mention Pegasys, although it said that you could take it with pegasys, but it was not in the totally OK category. Your results sound spectacular. I am going to look into this again and would really appreciate updates from anyone on your experiences with it. I am so glad that you were getting such a wonderful results and wish you continued improved health.

oops that was supposed to be to et824 and it was supposed to say that it does mention Pegasys, but that it was not a definite “no” but ok to use if needed.

I really need to proofread before I send out my responses😀
