Covid booster

Just wondering if anyone knows if I should be having the next booster. I have ET jak2 positive on aspirin only. My last booster was last September, I have not received a letter or text so not sure. I have got a letter explaining what condition I have from my haematologist, that I used for the last one.

I think you should book in for it and use your letter if you need to. I got a text about it. I think it’s important to have it.

You should have it (we are both over 75 -husband and myself) had ours about 6 weeks ago.

Not painful at all.

Hi, I had mine two weeks ago. I think you could try contacting your gp about getting it (mine contacted me) or just go on the nhs covid site and book it (I’d done this before the gp surgery contacted me). The website asks some questions to check your eligibility and then should allow you to book. Good luck!

I got a text from my GP last week asking me to book spring booster. When I phoned she actually mentioned that it was on my records I was immuno suppressed - it’s only taken them 14 years to add that on! I’m going for it tomorrow afternoon. You can phone 119 to book it. 😊

I'm in Scotland and got an email several weeks ago with an appointment (and i'm only 40). I would follow up as I'm not sure how long they will offer the spring booster for (assuming you're in the UK) and it sounds like youre definitely eligible...

Hi Penny

I have PV not ET but probably doesn’t make much difference when it comes to vaccines.

I had my fifth Pfizer vax last August and like you am wondering if I should have another. I did get a reminder but have got a horrid chest infection so waiting until that goes.

Just go to your surgery with the letter and ask.

Am also thinking I should have a pneumonia vax ( is there much around at this time of year or is pneumonia not season dependent I wonder) and a Shingrix vaccine.

The Shingrix vaccine is 90% efficient against shingles rather than the cheapo one which is 50%. It is however about £350 so you’ll have to push for it. Shingrix is also not a live vaccine. We can’t have live vaccines.

Sorry to rant on.

We’ll be floating in vaccines soon!

Onwards abd upwards. Summers coming.

I'm 76, have pv jak2 positive and received all my boosters, the most recent one about 1 month ago. No problem except for a sore arm for the day.

The threat of covid side effects with pv is of greater concern than the shot. I'd go for it.

I had Pfizer vaccine #6 about a month ago, no problems evident. Best.

I am 63 I have only had 2 vaxs and will not be having anymore . I think it is up to the individual to choose. I have never known a vaccine that needs so many boosters!

I have also chosen to have just 2 of the vaccines & no more boosters. I caught Covid a couple of weeks ago & have had very mild symptoms.

Agree that everyone should be free to choose, all/some/none - as everyone has different levels of 'risk' they're willing to live with
