Can any point me in the right direction. I thought had downloaded a leaflet from a link on an other post detailing mpns. It shows how our platelets look compared to normal, searched Google no luck. I am wondering if I imagined it.
Abnormal platelets: Can any point me in the right... - MPN Voice
Abnormal platelets
hi you are right. Our platelets are abnormal and immature in shape.
The presence of abnormal PLT or other blood cells depends on which MPN and details within.
In classic ET the platelets are typically mature but there are too many of them. I had this in my BMB biopsy "...maturation of all cell lines" with findings that "suggest essential thrombocythemia (ET)." while my PLT was over 1000.

In this report PV and MF are more associated with immature cell lines. This report has good info on what relates to these immature lines:
"As compared to patients with ET, both a higher IPF ( immature platelet fraction) and IRF (immature reticulocyte fraction) were observed among patients with PV and MF. "
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/282...
For example IPF relates to "male sex, thrombocytopenia, and diagnosis of PV"
For "MF, they were elevated peripheral blasts, low platelet count, JAK2 V617F mutation, and previous therapy"
"Previous therapy" for MF is curious. It's an abstract only so no more info on that.
