So it’s 3:00 in the morning here. I can’t sleep because my chest is so congested. I’ve had fever 4 nights in a row. I’m also taking a lot of medication which is making me nauseous because I have no appetite.
Just wanted to vent. This is my first time getting Covid but I know others have experienced it, as well. I’m also vaccinated 4 times.
Take care.

I am really sorry to learn that you are battling w/ CV–19, & hope that you repair fast!
As yet, I too have managed to avoid falling to Covid, & I am still practising all the usual safety protocols... I simply just do not ever want anything else other than dealing w/ my MPN...
What very bad luck - I know four friends with it at athe moment. It just won't go away. I remember you had pneumonia recently so have they got you on anti virals and antibiotics? All no doubt with their own side effects but I hope you start to improve soon. Best wishes Diana
Thank you, DJK. I am feeling a little better. It’s like having a bad flu. I was so afraid to get Covid after having pneumonia, but honestly, the pneumonia was worse. Thank you for your kind words.
Hi hope you will feel better soon look after yourself and chat to a doctor or nurse there is such a lot of covid around again I am trying to get out and about but do take more care than most best wishes Poppy
Thank you, Poppy. I’m pretty sure my boyfriend gave it to me. We went to an event and it got crowded. I left after an hour but he stayed. He got sick 3 days later and I followed 3 days after him.
We read so many things online, it’s hard to know what is accurate. I see a very knowledgeable functional medicine physician who I trust and she’s the one that prescribed the antiviral, which seem to be working. It’s called molnupiravir. It’s pretty new on the market. She said the popular one is Paxlovid, but she said that it interfered with my other medication.
We afs Atrial Fibrillation sufferers cant have the NZ one she sights.
Did you have the course of 4 jabs COVID?
I still remain double masked in places of community gathering and shops.
Never had COVID but I have been a CONTACT.
As your Dr has spotted a non go anti-viral she is a keeper.
But I've never known a person suffering for so long. My contact had a very sore throat 1 day then a bad night unable to get his breath then OK next day and continued to improve.
Molnupiravir has actually been available for a while. But the reports from early this year pointed to its being signif less effective than Pax, by some no better than placebo. In more recent reports with more data it's looking much better. So your Dr is keeping up with the latest. And this is good news for those who's meds preclude Pax, esp because some of the latest variants may affect how well the other options work (antibody infusions).
It’s funny you say that because last summer she said if I get Covid, I should call her to give me Paxlovid . But when I really did get Covid a few days ago, she changed her mind and gave me the new one. It’s 8 pills/day, so it’s kind of a lot.
I think there was some early bias against it because it works by "by fostering error accumulation (in the virus genome) in a process referred to as ‘error catastrophe"
Sounds bad to lay people, esp us with our own errors to deal with, but clearly it's working well and we can trust it doesn't affect our genome, only the bug's.
Pax is looking more problematic with its many med interactions.
i’m on day 6 of my first bout of Covid like you felt terrible for the first 4 days . Decided to take the antivirals and although still faintly positive feeling slightly better and on the road to recovery I hope. Hope you feel better soon.
Glad you’re feeling a little better. I’m taking the newest antiviral called molnupirivir but didn’t start until Thursday. The good news is that last night was the first time in 5 days I didn’t have fever. I did however lose my voice completely and still very weak. Even so, I feel like I’ve turned a corner.
Yes, I called my doctor immediately after my test came back positive and she prescribed a new antiviral called molnupiravir. I just started it Thursday night.
Hope you are on the trajectory of feeling better each day. Like you, I felt a lot of congestion in the chest when I tested positive for covid in September. It got better after a few days but the congestion (albeit milder) returned with body aches after a week. My body felt relatively normal after 3 weeks, which took longer than anticipated. I didn’t opt for any covid treatments given that I didn’t fit the criteria and was still able to walk 3mi throughout the first week.
Wanted to share my experience to let you know that the symptoms can wax and wane, and even though I am only at ET on the MPN spectrum at the moment, my body took more time to clear the virus and the inflammatory response to it. Hopefully the antiviral treatment you received will help you recover sooner to get back to your baseline.
Thank you for sharing. I’m already feeling a little better but I will keep in mind what you said. I’m still very lethargic with bad laryngitis, but no fever, so that’s good. Thank you for your good wishes.
Don't beat yourself up over i as time goes on in becomes increasingly difficult to avoid getting Covid. Just be happy you are vaccinated and so should not be too ill. Hope that you are feeling better soon. Garry
