5th jab

Just giving an update. I’ve had my 5th Jab now. I didn’t wait for a letter or text from the GP I just booked online, turned up and told her it was my 5th jab and I had no problems at all getting it. Wasn’t feeling amazing the next day

Fantastic! Pleased it went well. ..I’m just worried that knowing my luck they will demand to see proof

I also made the choice and booked via NHS App. Haematology Clinic supplied me with letter recommending 5th dose after I e-mailed. The letter definitely smoothed the path when I turned up at the vaccination site and was apparently too young (72!).

I got in contact with my GP yesterday to arrange a 5th jab and was told to check out ‘grabajab’ online. Yup, formerly known as Googling NHS Covid walk in services! That will tell you who in your locality is offering Spring Boosters.

I rang the local pharmacy listed just to double check and the pharmacist seemed entirely laid back. Going to take my box of meds and previous letter from Guy’s just incase.

Bit concerned they only offer Moderna (“that’s all the NHS are supplying us with”) as others here have noted significant after effects with 5th jab after having Pfizer for all the others. We’ll see!

Interesting ! I did a walk in at Guys yesterday armed in anticipation with my previous letter from the Haematology team. However when I was told they only have Moderna, I decided to wait. Now you are saying that is all they are being supplied with, I’d better go back. I’ve always had Pfizer so am a bit apprehensive about having Moderna even though I understand they are very similar.

Well that’s what I was told yesterday - and it seems to be a pretty consistent story. There’s good evidence that mixing vaccines gives added protection. But I wonder if Pfizer is in short supply and is being kept for situations where it has to be given. No doubt economics is playing its part! I’m a bit wary but will go ahead (trying to schedule for when I don’t have commitments in the next few days!).

I just looked at the NHS walking website and some places are showing they have the Pfizer vaccines (don't know how up to date the website is). It maybe worth a look to see if there is a site with Pfizer near you.

Thanks! I may be able to get Pfizer on Saturday but having done some research, I think Moderna will be OK.

I emailed the Covid booking site (mine was for Guys and St. Thomas’s) and had a very favourable and quick response about my eligibility to get the fifth dose. Hope it’s as easy when I actually get there but I will be armed with my emails and Hydroxycarbamide pack.

I've had 2 AZ, 2 Pfizer & last 1 Moderna - no problems with any.

Hi, I booked on line for 5th vaccine, appointment next day. I went armed with Hydroxycarbamide and usual prescription, letter etc and wasn’t asked for any proof. No after effects from Moderna apart from sore arm for a week.
