I assume you are on aspirin as well, they are definitely contraindicated. Stick to the Panadiene/Tylenol/…….

Thanks. I am on aspirin and hydroxyurea. My doctor said it was ok to take ibuprofen for the muscle pains I am having which I thought was odd because it contains nsaid. Tylenol is not helping much.

Sorry you’re in pain, won’t your doc prescribe a codeine/paracetamol combo?

No! But that’s because of the aspirin. Aspirin and ibuprofen do not mix. Stick to paracetamol.

I’m really not sure about that advice. If you really need to take Ibuprofen then stop the aspirin (but obviously check with a Haem / pharmacist first). There are other drugs - for example some that deal with gynaecological problems such as heavy menstrual bleeding - and the advice is always to stop the aspirin while on them otherwise you get a double whammy of blood thinning effects.

I know it does, have multiple things going on and there are other meds I take that contraindicate with other ones. Have to have some quality of life so some risk is inevitable

Hi. I’m on hydroxycarbamide and also Rivaroxaban (an anticoagulant for atrial fibrillation ) and I take ibuprofen when I need it. No one has ever said I shouldn’t, and it doesn’t cause any problems, I’m glad to say!

I have taken Ibuprofen many times over the last 10 years or so and have never had any issues. I have ET and take 1000/1500 mg of Hydroxurea and aspirin.

Thanks goldenvision. I have the pain under control right now. I think it was an anxiety thing. The ibuprofen didn't bother me either. Wish you well.
