Depression, anxiety and irritability on peginterferon

Are people who are already taking anti depressants finding that they have to up their doses after taking peginterferon for pv?

prob best discuss that with your docs first but depression is potential symptom with Interferons so seems logical perhaps

One of the reason I stopped taking peg, was the effects on my mental health it's a known adverse effect. I would discuss with Haemotology and your gp. Hope you find some relief.

Yep, that is describing me! All three! Been on Pegintefeeron for over eight years! I was in care of psychologist and learn to manage all three! Wishing you well.

Thank you. I read it could be a side effect. Hopefully it will be manageable if they say I can up my dose of sertraline

Four years on peg and experienced depression and irritability. Would often get quite angry over some pretty small stuff. Off it now for almost 2 years and mentally in a much better place with hydroxy. Physically though I felt better on peg overall. Currently considering other options like Besremi since peg is suspected of giving me a neuropathy.

Hi George1976I started off on Hydroxicarbomide but developed peripheral neuropathy in my hands. Then went on to just venesections, which have been good for about 4 years until a few months ago when platelets, white and red cells started to rise. Started on 45mcg peg then 90 now 135. Am hoping this will work for me as Besremi not available in the UK. Yes I am much less patient and get angry at small things also. Hoping that if I get go ahead to up my sertraline all will be ok.
