.....Hello new here! Does anybody have elevated platelets along with elevated crp and esr? Usually my platelets are 420 ( for around the past 4 1/2 years) my esr and crp have been up and down. Also positive ANA. I see a rheumatologist, but we are still investigating for autoimmune disease etc. Saw a hematologist once...Ran tests she wasn't concerned. I just didn't like this last reading....Up too date on pretty much all regular exams plus a recent CT scan of stomach and pelvis, ( normal) ...Anybody w similar issues it would be great too hear from you!!!

Given what you describe, reactive thrombocytosis would be a possibility. You found your way here, so presumably you know what a myeloproliferative neoplasm is and that Essential Thrombocythemia is one type of a MPN. You will likely need to see a knowledgeable hematologist who has MPN expertise to get an answer. Here is a list mpnforum.com/list-hem./ . The elevation in platelet levels could certainly be secondary to something else. It is something to figure out regardless of whether it is a MPN. Hope you get answers soon.
Thank you so much. I actually didn't know too much about MPN because I was looking up info on elevated platelets and I found this group!! Ugh just worried of course and just learning more and more about this. Thank you so very much again!! Autoimmune disease runs between my siblings ....Have a feeling I'm just not diagnosed yet. I will look for that hematologist!
If you do get diagnosed with an MPN it’s imperative to have a bone marrow biopsy done…the apprehension at having one is much worse than it actually is.
A molecular genetic blood test will see if you have any gene mutations which can herald an MPN.
Best of luck!
Many haematologists aren’t recommending a bone marrow biopsy for diagnosis, this was discussed by the specialists in the recent MPN patient forum.
But wouldn’t you want to know if it’s evolved to MF? I went from being diagnosed with ET in March to it being corrected, in April, by a proper haematologist via their insistence I have a biopsy. Turned out I had MF with grade 2 fibrosis in April. Big difference! It didn’t take my platelets to be be really high either.
I wonder why they are saying that. Did you catch the reason why? It’s also part of the WHO’s criteria as well. More importantly, which specialists are these? Maybe I’ll do the opposite of what they say 😄😉.
They can diagnose from blood indicators - where it’s not clear then the biopsy becomes more important. I for example didn’t need the biopsy as my bloods revealed the condition but I was warned that they may have needed to take that step.
Thnk you! Forgive me newer too this. I was tested for the JAK ( not exactly sure what they are) all negative. Plus some other ones. I'll just continue w both rheum and henatol9gist and will ask about bone marrow. Thank you All!!!!!
