Hi, aspirin isn't too much of a problem if simple extraction just make sure your dentist knows. You will need to be careful to follow post-op instructions carefully. Stopping a dose or two may be suggested, so have a chat at your next check up and then if it arises everyone knows what to expect.

I didn't. My dentist contacted my consultant before she did anything and he said to just go ahead. Also on Hydroxy.

Thankyou. My dentist said she would send me to hospital for extractionI if it came to it but I don’t really relish going with this pandemic

Hi Pippa, your haematologist or your haematology nurse specialist will be able to advise you on what you need to do about your Hydroxycarbamide and aspirin prior to and after the extraction. Best wishes, Maz

Hi, our routine is that the dentist contacts the haematologist (or equivalent) and they decide between them, what to do. It has worked well so far.

Standard protocol is to d/c the aspirin 3 - 7 days before the extraction. Continue to take the HU. Resume the aspirin once the bleeding stops. Please be sure the verify with your hematologist what is recommended in your case. No special precautions are needed for a tooth extraction due to your ET and treatment. Not sure why the dentist would send you to a hospital rather than the office. Another good question to review with your treatment team.

Hi PippaI have been advised by my dentist that I will need a tooth extraction in the not too distant future and was wondering the same as you. I am going to contact my nurse specialist/consultant to ask their advice regarding Aspirin. I have PRV Jak2+ and am on daily Aspirin and weekly Peginterferon.

Best wishes

Tina

Hope it goes well for you I don’t have a specialist nurse. My point of contact is my heamotologist but I have to go through the secretary which is difficult sometimes but I will ask advice. Thankyou
