In a weeks time I have my usual blood test for the hospital for checking blood levels for PV .....the hospital doesn’t give me the usual paperwork for the blood test, and the last time I had the test done by a nurse coming to my home, because of Covid, he didn’t know what sort of blood test I needed.
Can anyone on here tell me what the blood test is called.....I am thinking it’s “complete blood count” but I am not sure. Thanks for your help

Hi Yvette49, yes it will be as Steve said, a FBC and may also be some others depending on what your consultant has asked to be checked, for instance mine always checks my U&E (urea and electrolytes) and Liver. Your consultant may ask for other levels to be checked, it would be best if you can ask your consultant to send you the blood test request form so that you can give it to the nurse, if you hare having the test done at home again, but if you are going to the hospital for the blood test then it is likely that the blood form will be in your notes for the phlebotomy dept/nurse. Best wishes, Maz
Hi Maz, I am going to my Drs surgery this time....I think I will call the hospital for I do, not sure why they have stopped giving the blood info in the plastic bag...saving money I expect.....thanks again
Hi, I have PV Jak2 + and have 8 weekly venesections. My blood tests are always FBC (Full Blood Count) and usually Ferritin is checked too. I hope this helps.
