Does anyone wear or was told to wear a medical I. D. Bracelet due to being on high doses of blood thinners and /or aspirin? Heard it’s been recommended.
Bracelet : Does anyone wear or was told to wear a... - MPN Voice
Bracelet
I don't use a bracelet but I do include medications and MPN info in the emergency information on my mobile phone.
I sometimes wonder how many people know how to access the information without my password - it's easy enough but if people don't use it themselves what are the chances? So the bracelet is a good idea I suppose.

Hello scrollernut - I have a credit card size info card I keep in my purse + another in my phone cover (if you check out the MPN voice website you should be able to get Maz to send one out to you) - I did get a very easy to wear ‘vital intel inside’ bracelet off the internet which I used for peace of mind when I travelled abroad on my own - didn’t use it day to day at home though (which reminds me to get another at some point as I dropped it somewhere)! Anne-Marie (ET JAK2+)
I have a booklet with my haematologists details my condition and my platelets count. I was told to take it with me especially when traveling
Hi... , It was recommended to me that I should wear a bracelet (PV) . A bracelet is easily noticeable and proper treatment would be administered if necessary. I just feel safer with my MedicAlert bracelet. I may not always have my phone or emergency card with me. Hope this helps with your decision Scrollernut.
Just ordered one today. Thanks.
That’s great! All the best to you!!!
I have a bracelet, I got it from
theidbandco.com/Medical-Bra...
I also have medical cards (which you can get from Maz, if you email her she will send them out. )
And ICE app on my phone. You put all your medical details in, emergency contacts. If your phone is locked, if some needs to use your phone for an emergency they can click on the emergency button and it brings up the list how is on your emergency list as well as 999.
You have what ever makes you feel comfortable and you let other people know we’re they can find your ID.
I have a medic-alert bracelet with my condition (not all medications as some have changed)!
I also have Hospital Contact numbers separately in my wallet!(including Out of Hours -should I need it)!
Hubby wears a rubber bracelet style thing that says blood thinners. Nurse sais wasn't necessary but he has all hia medical info on a card in his phone case so the bracelet should trigger someone to check him. Just for peace of mind
I do the same as amhann, although a bracelet is more obvious I guess, so I'll look into that now you've mentioned it.
Hello, like amham, I have a credit card sized card available from MPN Voice which I keep in my phone case. I have a bracelet with my details on, but I only wear that if I'm out on my own or at work. I'm ET Jak2+ on aspirin and hydroxy.
if anyone would like an alert card please email me at maz.cd@mpnvoice.org.uk, I will need to have your full postal address. Best wishes, Maz
I have pocket MPN medical card, and MPN booklet in my car. My haematologist from hospital told me I didn't need the bracelet because if anything happen to me, I would be automatically transported to the main hospital Royal Adelaide Hospital where my haematologist is and the hospital have all my medical record on their system . I live in South Australia.
Hi Scrollernut, it was recommended that I wear an id bracelet for blood thinner. I was told emt’s check for them. Ann16
I've never been recommended to get a ID bracelet but do carry an MPN medical card I my phone case.
Hi Scrollernut, I already had a ‘Medical Alert’ wristband for something else so I just had my M P N added to it. Peace of mind for me if I’m unable to communicate when and if I need medical help.
I wear a medic-alert bracelet so first responders immediately know my health conditions & can call medic-alert & find out all meds i’m on. Also, MPN patients can’t be organ donors so it’s important they know this. And frankly, if you’re seriously injured your loved one won’t have to remember all your pertinent medical issues & meds. I consider it a kindness for them. It’s all a phone call away for those needing to know. Katie
My sister was told to wear a medical bracelet with her ID and our phone numbers, but she didn’t like the bracelet and was always “losing” it somewhere. Even when she got sick and for unknown reasons could lose consciousness, fashion was for her in the first place, and the medical bracelet didn’t fit her outfits. We tried to explain to her how dangerous it might be if she stops wearing it, but every time she was coming back from school without it. Then we came up with one solution. We ordered her some nice jewelry on chvker.com/collections/butt... that will suit her looks, and also ordered some engravings and charms with the important info that might save her life.
