Hi just a quick question as I forgot to ask my heamo yesterday . My Rbc and heamocrit are still high and outside the normal margins and just on aspirin and 6 weekly blood tests at the minute as having further tests . I read somewhere that exercise increases rbc count . I want to exercise a little if possible but not if it’s going to increase my rbc counts as I want to lower them if possible . Just wondered if this was correct . Thanks Shaun
High rbc and exercise? : Hi just a quick question... - MPN Voice
High rbc and exercise?
I just got home from a pretty intense workout and now I'm curious about this, too. I feel so much better after the gym. I already worked out before my diagnosis, but have stepped things up and am not as wiped out as I had been. I'd be unwilling to give up my gym time. I need the endorphins.
I'm going to read through this article later. It examines the role of exercise in managing MPN symptoms.

After reading that article I can’t find anywhere that states exercise increases rbc . I can’t see how exercise can do anything else but to help you even for mental wellbeing .
Joining this thread - I too was an avid exerciser and while Ive modified how I workout, I continue to workout regularly. If thats a bad thing....that would be good to know!
I feel that as long as the intensity is kept lowish, exercise shouldnt produce a response in the blood. High intensity training most likely will.
I dont have any references to back this up, its just my instinct after many blood test and workout sessions.
