Has anyone been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes while having an MPN, any advice? I was diagnosed with MPL ET 4 years ago. I’m taking L/D Aspirin and Pegasys.

TYPE 2 Diabetes
Hi Raphael_UK,
Like you I am just over 4 years diagnosed with ET (calr). I am taking L/D asprin with 1000/1500 mg of Hydrea every second day. My platelets have steadied at 350/400.
I became diabetic 2 years ago and take metformin twice daily. I check my bloods daily and they are averaging 6-6.5. I also take statins for cholesterol and have a little arthritis too.
Having these conditions, my GP and Haematologist tell me I am a high risk patient and need to keep active and eat healthily. I'm 74 and do the best I can in since I live alone. I play golf (weather permitting!) one or two times a week and enjoy the banter and social activity it generates. I go to Spain with a group of friends to play golf 2/3 times a year. I also go with my adult children and their families on joint holidays here at home or abroad.
I feel blessed that the chronic conditions I have are manageable and do not impinge on having an active and enjoyable life. My only advice is to keep living life to the full and enjoy all life brings while following the advice you get from your medical advisers.
Regards,
Frank
