Hi all. Does anyone know if it's a risk to have laser hair removal while taking Hydroxycarbamide, for ET?

Thanks

I am not sure. I know you cannot do this if you are taking aspirin. Worth checking with your medical team to be sure.

I had other laser procedures with no problem while on hydroxy but not hair removal. Good question, I hope someone knows answer

OK is a relative term. Any procedure that causes significant bleeding, tissue damage or inflammation can trigger reactive thrombocytosis. I would think that laser hair remove would be unlikely to have much effect, but definitely check out with your hematologist. The dermatologist is unlikely to know enough to predict your risk factors as MPNs are so rare.

Thanks all. I spoke with the NHS specialist and he said "we have no problem with you going ahead with it" there has been no previous issues associated with it. So it seems like the risk is no higher than with others. I will just need to stop taking aspirin for a few days before. Thanks!
