Earthquake on the way!

Encouraging video, discovering JAK2 was last big MPN earthquake and not a great deal has happened since then. However, according to this expert, we may get something major within next year or 2. Might be first signs at ASH 2019.

It hasn’t been revealed yet; to be discussed at ASH 2019.

It could be anyone of those things. He did make some reference to clinical trials, who knows!

I hope to god this new "earthquake" will include the medical capacity to ensure progression free survival for us.

By earthquake I think he meant there has been no big breakthrough since discovery of JAK2 although this wasn’t quite the transformational breakthrough as first envisaged. It now appears there are a number of other progression ‘suspects’ (other than JAK2)

Some of these have now been identified and are being targeted with drug trials eg MDM2 inhibition. We should get some results at Ash 2019.

Imo the medium term future should bring new combination treatments that will combat some, if not all of these other progression risk factors.

Also, as has been said so often, we are all different. Modifying individual drug treatment plans based on understanding our genetic/mutational profile is hopefully not far away
