Blurred vision

Update on ET. Bloods are all good and within range. Trying to celebrate but now consultant is worried about my blurred vision. I’ve been raising this since my stroke last July as happens roughly monthly followed by brain fog and was constantly told it was stroke fatigue and anxiety. So now another worry - seeing ophthalmologist for further investigation. Hoping not TIAs or seizures. Not helped by fact I can’t have an mra due to metal platelet under my eye.

Anyone had anything similar re the blurred vision. Only lasts 10-30 seconds.

Positive end - picking up puppy on July 12th. Deciding between George or Bertie for name. Thoughts welcome!

Have a good day. Jacquie

Blurry vision is a normal symptom of ET. A lot of us get it. I saw an opthamalogist for it once and they didn't find anything.

Have fun with your new puppy! 🐶

As clubdino said, for me blurred vision all part of the ET symptoms. I have it regularly, though generally lasts a few hours not just a few minutes.

Yes I get them too, but mine last just a few seconds and clear by blinking a few times. Optician found nothing awry when I had eye test and my consultant seems to think it is all part of ET

Yes, I get these. I call it a light show, as vision is blurred with patches of spinning bright lights that make it difficult to see. I used to get these many years ago and was typically the pre-cursor to having a migraine, but I've had these a few times this year so far, without the severe headache. Normally take a couple of paracetamol and hopefully passes

48 with ET since 2008 - currently on a break from Interferon

I used to get the flashing lightning bolts. My doctor called it an eye migraine and tole me to take more caffeine. That helped a lot. I had quit caffeine after a kidney stone,

Have eye doc test you for dry eyes, they have a test for it and it can cause blurred vision.

Hi Jlah, I’ve had TIAs. 6 of them. Some real light, one was bigger and really not funny. I sometimes have a small blurred spot in the middle of my right eye. It goes away when I rub a bit or put a little pressure on my eye. My doc says dry eye. I don’t believe that and never will. And I asked why only the right eye. No answer. ET caused me “low pressure” glaucoma because there wasn’t enough blood and therefore oxygen circulating to my eyes’ capillaries. It will not get any worse, since my blood is now thinner and the little blurry spot is less present. Is your blurriness similar? Or is your whole vision blurred?

Regarding a puppy. Firstly, quite a fabulous idea!!! My dog’s sister just had puppies and I’m contemplating a second one! Secondly, I like the name Bertie better. Easier to call. 😁🐶

Thanks all. It is like a signal to my eye. Lasts about 10 seconds but can then feel my brain reacting- I was originally told it was stroke fatigue but it happens when I’m coming down from a stressful situation. In general I am getting much stronger 12 months on so really hoping it’s just overdoing it. And yes I think I’m going for Bertie. Jx.

I’m curious if what your experiencing is a derivative of aura migraines, which I had many of in the past. I see flashing lights that keep getting bigger and move to the rest of my visual field. I also feel the brain afterwards. It’s like unloading. There has been a long chat about this before on the forum. Happy for Bertie. 😁 I wish you many wonderful years together! (I’m really thinking about a second Havanese. They are now a week old. Will visit them next week. 😀

I have the lightening bolts (silent migraines) occasionally and blurred vision regularly. I had no idea the blurred vision was from ET. I was wondering what was going on!! I never mentioned it to my Hemo as I didn't make the connection.

And I think Bertie is an adorable name for a pup!! George is cute too though...
