Has anyone with an MPN every had VMT of the eyes, I have just been told after a second scan that my blurred vision is what the problem is, and being referred urgently, with the possibility of an operation to remove the gel that is detaching itself from the retina in both eyes. They told me it was Old age REALLY!! I am only 71 but feel 41🤪 and there was me thinking it was to do with my ET and Hydroxycarbamide . 🤦♀️ Its been going on for a number of years this blurred vision some days are OK others blooming awful, also in 2019 had laser to put a hole in both eyes to relieve the pressure which they said had worked well, now been told I must not drive. So just wondering if anyone has had this procedure done and had it worked for you.

I must say that I have not had that exact experience, but do have posterior vitreous detachment, hx of retinal tears x2, lattice degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivochalasis, myopia, presbyopia, and convergence insufficiency. The good news is that my eyes get checked a lot! I have 4 different eye specialists. Lucky me!
None of my eye issues are MPN related. There are reports of retinal thrombosis and hemorrhage associated. Also seen a few people discuss tortuous vessels in the retina. Retinal migraines are also known to occur. If you do learn that your issues are MPN related than please be sure to let us know.
I sure hope you get your eye situation straightened out. It does not sound like much of a jolly time contemplating another eye surgery. I am looking forward to the cataract surgery. Seeing that doc to discuss it in August.
All the best to you and wishing you success with the eye issues.
Boy, Hunter, you have really had some issues. And yet you soldier on, always trying to help people on this site. I’m glad you have 4 eye specialists working with you. Good luck with your cataract surgery. I had both eyes done in my 40’s. My vision cleared up immediately.
Hi Jean , , sorry to read of your VMT , , as a person with eye issues (not this one though - yet) I can empathise with those good and not so good days you describe. Im afraid the condition is mostly associated with ageing but believe it can affect Diabetics as it was mentitled in a leaflet i was sent. It's good that you are being referred urgently, I didn't think that existed now ! If you're lucky it may resolve itself , it really depends how far gone it is. I used to take my good eyesight for granted until things went awry.
I just wanted to give you my best wishes going forward with this and hope you have a successful outcome come what may.
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I’ve never had that before, but I had cataract surgery in both eyes when I was in my early 40s. I wish you well in your upcoming surgery. And no, you are not old and don’t let anyone tell you so.
Always a good idea to take supplements with lutein in, they act against macular degeneration
Hi Superwoman Giving up driving is a real blow l know l live driving but have not driven for ages due to health reasons. I also have some blurred vision due to cataracts lm told, have you though about a second opinion 🤔 before anymore interventions.
Good luck my dear once a Superwoman always a Superwoman don't forget that.
Hello Jean, I am so sorry that you are having this problem, sounds horrible for you, I do hope that they get this sorted out quickly for you and that you don't have to stop driving. Let us know how you get on. Maz x x x
