Blurred vision with PMF AND Jakavi

I developed PMF and was prescribed Jakavi a year ago. Eight months later I had blurred vision which continues today. Have other people experienced this problem?

Talk to your consultant about it. You might need to be referred to ophthalmology. Have you looked through the possible side effects of any/all drugs you might be taking? I was thinking of changing one of my meds but on reading up the side effects of the newer alternative it included things like blurred vision so I’ve decided to stick with the devil I know! You should not overlook this symptom. Go to your GP if you can’t see your consultant soon. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. Best wishes Jan

Make an appointment with your GP. I have permanent double vision due to damage to my cornea which was caused by high HCT, before my PV was diagnosed.

Hi Eleanor, it must be very discouraging dealing with your sight problem. I hope you can find help to ease this.

I had blurred vision prior to the diagnosis of ET and went to eye doctor thinking I needed a change in my script. He said blurred vision was caused from dry eyes. He told me to use eye drops . I still am bothered with blurred vision... some days are far worse than others. And I still use eye drops but doesn’t help much.

Hi Cookiebaker, I too have been told my eyes are very dry and to use drops. However, despite being soothing, drops don’t prevent fuzzy sight. The Mayo Clinic suggests that a side effect of Jakavi is blurred vision but no sites in the UK Include this problem. According to my optometrist and ophthalmic specialist my eyes and prescription for glasses are fine but still I struggle. Even typing this message is frustrating.

That’s the good thing about this forum... you find out that others have the same problems that you have. Thank you for writing.

I have the same issue. All sorts of test on my eyes and supposedly they are fine. But I can hardly see to type this too. I have taken Jakafi for a year and I started having problems that got worse in the past year. I believe it is connected to my MF.
