Update!

Nine months ago I wrote about my bowel cancer and the fact that my platelets had dropped to below 200. I’ve had the all clear on the bowel cancer subject to three monthly checks. However my platelets have started to slowly increase again and I expect them to be over 400 next week when I see the haemo. I’m reluctant to go back onto hydroxycarbamide . I think that by interfering with your immune system it leaves you open to other things.

Am I talking rubbish ?

Hi Juliet46 - fantastic news for you that you are clear - no I don’t think you are talking rubbish. I am ET JAK2+ and while I was off the hydroxy for radiotherapy on my c no2 I had the world, their mates + pets coughing + sneezing over me and sailed through without a sniffle - since back on hydroxy all my counts took a tumble + I’ve picked up everything going!! however on today’s counts platelets up a bit (420) but still ok for me, and the others all recovering - feeling fine now so assume I just took a while to re-adjust. If you had to have full on chemo I can understand your reluctance but hopefully you have a good haem team that you can raise your worries with. Wishing you all the best. Anne-Marie xxx

I don’t know! Would that show up on a normal blood test? I could ask about it when I see the haemo

Hi Juliet, That’s fantastic that the cancer is clear! No, you are not talking rubbish! I don’t know how high your platelets were before your C treatment. It is so important to clear all toxins from the body. My husband had cancer 2x and I know what I’m talking about. Find a really good functional doctor to guide you in this. They should guide you on a good anti cancer diet, detox and perhaps curcumin, etc. to make sure all mother cancer cells are dealt with to help stop a recurrence. This will help to also slowly reset your immune system. It best if you are able to stay away from from meds for as long as possible for this to be effective. I’ve been doing all this for 20 mo this, since my ET diagnosis. My health is soooooo much better in every way. No more intolerances, eczema, fatty liver, swollen spleen, incontinence, the list goes on! I was able to reduce my Anagrelid also. I don’t even get colds anymore. Some people try this in their own. But I believe it is best with good guidance. Hope to have helped! Good luck, Anag 🙂
