A whole year has passed since my lovely wife had her operation to remove her ruptured spleen during the night, in France. In the year she has been in hospital a total of over eight weeks. The most recent being from Good Friday until the following Wednesday after another upper GI bleed. We are hoping this weakness in her gullet is now repaired, after an operation on the Saturday to band a couple of varices. All due to the portal vein thrombosis she developed after the heparin was discontinued by her GP and hemo after returning from France. The bleed was worse due to the warfarin she has been on since the portal vein thrombosis was discovered back in last summer.
She had four bags of red cells and yesterday her hgb was up to 111 and haemocrit at 0.35. She is feeling fine now and is off the warfarin hopefully for good.
Thank you all for your messages of support, and Maz of course.
We hope that the next year will be pretty uneventful MF wise and the hydroxy and Anagrelide continue to perform well without side effects as they have done, and her Portal vein hypertension decreases.
