I have been diagnosed since Sept after blood tests. I have had reallybadnight sweats for more than 10 years but always put down to menopause. I now wonder if I have had this longer as no blood test were taken then. I have just started getting itchy skin as well. Any tips on night sweats as these get me down.

Welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed with ET in 2017 and like you had big night seats for years which, also like you, I put down to menopause but I now bet that a lot of the time that wasn’t the case. Sorry to hear about the itchy skin. I have only had intermittently very itchy armpits but I know others on this forum have talked about itching more generally so I’m hoping they’ll weigh in with any tips on alleviating. At the very least you’ll know you’re not alone.

Sorry that I don't have tips on night sweats. Are you interested in tips on itchy skin?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed with ET JAK2+ in 2017 and, like you, I had been experiencing heavy night sweats for years before but, being a bloke, menopause was never a consideration!

I was 67 at the time of diagnosis (so classified as high risk) and therefore I was put on hydroxycarbamide and and low dose aspirin to bring the platelets under control. The good thing is that it also brought the night sweats under control, so that now I only get sweats very infrequently and with much less intensity.

So there is light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully your medication may bring you some relief. Do keep in touch with this forum as there will always be someone who will try to help you - I have found it invaluable. If you haven't found it already, take a look at the MPN Voice website at mpnvoice.org.uk which contains lots of reliable information about MPNs

All the best

I’m post menopausal but have heat surges still 😉Rather than take meds , after taking advice from many friends in my fb groups , I invested in new bedding . I bought a duvet & a mattress protector from Baavet’s bargain box & they have transformed my comfort & my sleep. If,after using these things, they don’t suit you just pay the return postage & they will refund you. Worth a try👍They are very knowledgeable about their own products & are happy to give advice over the phone if that helps 😊
