Hi Sandy. You should probably raise this with your Haem / GP especially if it persists in any extremity - toes / fingers. I had this on and off but then had an acute episode over a weekend. Intermittent but repeated sharp pains. Like a red hot poker going through my toe. It wasn’t in the joint (ie gout). The pain was sufficient to make me stop what I was doing and grab hold of the kitchen worktop! I was told if that ever happened again I was to call in to the department. Since my HCT levels and platelets have been brought under control with the Hydroxy I haven’t had even the minor episodes.
Hi nightssky, sorry to hear you’re having these pains. I have a lot of joints issues so can’t really tell what I should blame for new symptoms. I usually say if it’s something new or different, don’t blame your PV, get it checked out. As my gp reminded me a few weeks ago, I should blame PV or osteoarthritis for everything - and he was smug with it!
Kindest regards Aime xx😹😹
Sorry my message should have read: I should NOT blame PV and osteoarthritis....!! Kindest regards Aime 😹😹😹
Hi
Hot burning stabbing pains in your extremities like toes and fingers is something you should raise with your haematologist / GP especially if they are prolonged. All the best.
Hi, though have ET and not PRV, do get the most excruciating stabbing pains in finger, which sometimes spreads to hand and even up arm...comes on without warning and is unbelievably painful. Can keep me awake for hours. Think possibly tied up with high platelets.
Haematologist very sympathetic, but not able to suggest cause or cure. Referred to hospital to test re 'blood flow', which told was 'normal'. (Though when undergoing this, was not actually having an 'attack'.)
Going again to see a vascular surgeon, who says 'we may never be able to find the cause of this', but he obviously takes on board how bad the pain can be.
Should love to hear of a way of stopping it, as can be quite overwhelming sometimes and have to stop myself shouting out 'Ow!' Really wish you well and hope someone somewhere will come up with the cause and a cure. Tinkerbell
