Hi,I don't know, but things change ever so often.Been on hydroxycarbamide for 10 years now.I just get on with it. I personally can't be dealing with all changes BUT if you feel worried you must act!
I have been on Hydrea for 8 yrs P V.....Mostly I am ok ,but do still get nausea ,dizziness and chronic fatigue...it goes with the drug and the maladie my consultant tells me.....important to be well hydrated and rest as well as exercise, make sure not to get too stressed about it,makes things worse...I also find certain foods make me nauseous, and I can only eat a little at a time..best to you ,Sally
I have ET and am on 10 hydroxy a week. Had been having bouts of nausea and constipation. The haematologist gave me a prescription for movicol which has sorted the constipation and I am no longer feeling nauseous, might that be your problem too?
Ah,that's a thought,Hydroxy does have that effect,I rely on prunes, the main industry in my part of Fr.Not working just now tho !!!!
Hi juliet46

go and see your GP; may have nothing to do with yr mpn
As Jane said I would go to the GP as it could be unrelated. I have had nausea since starting the hydroxy 2years ago. However, it got much worse about 6 months ago. I was tested for h.pylori, and was positive. It is a bacteria that lives in about 50% of humans quite normally and happily, but was out of control for me (maybe due to lowered immunity?) and I took two lots of antibiotics and now my nausea is back to a manageable level as before.
Nausea is awful!! Hope you get sorted x
Thankyou !
Hi Juliet, I’m the worlds worst for blaming PV or osteoarthritis for everything as my gp reminded me last Thursday 🙀. I always say get any new symptoms checked out just in case it is something else which could have a simple explanation and is easy to sort.
Kindest regards Aime xx😺😺
Hello Juliet46 et al, i had PV diagnosed in 1983. I was put on another drug named Busulphan and once the bloods were reducing to a manageable level I was put on hydroxyurea, now known as Hydroxycarbamide!
I had feelings of nausea, but my haematologist told me it was the rubbish blood cells causing the problem and the GP put me on daily Omeprazole to control the gastric acidity. It stopped the nausea!
I am now on ruxolitinib as i changed to MF about 8 years ago. I will be 72 soon and I am going to Provence in France on my motorcycle next week and then a holiday in Spain.
Chat to your GP and try to get the acid in your stomach under control. Hopefully that will help hugely.
Bless you all and make every effort to enjoy life.
Michael xx
Hi. I get nauseous sometimes but mostly when I eat & not always then. None of my docs seems to know what it’s from. Fortunately, drinking gingerale takes it away. I also get nauseous other times (much less often) & have to take nausea medication. I’m ETjak+, Hydroxyurea. Good luck. Hope it ends soon for you! Katie
