Is it normal to wake up with nausea and get nausea after eating when you have ET?Im asking because my daughter have some symtoms. We live in Norway but she is in Australia as a student now. Return to Norway December 17. Sometimes her platelets are elevated. Started 10 years ago with long periods when she feels good. She felt very tired spring 2022 and platelets were over 500. In August 425. Then sent to a hematalog in September 2022. Then they were in the normal range. So he didnt do a BM. And all of her tests normal. Also in february 2023. Then up to 483 in June just before she travelled to Australia. She has been feeling nausea for a year and also low back pain. She also had blood on the paper after going to the toilet for months this spring. I am worried .

I suggest your daughter starts by seeing her GP about the nausea, the back pain and the bleeding. I've never heard of ET causing these symptoms.

What you describing is not normal with or without ET. What you are describing sounds like some sort of GI issue or combination of issues. She may need to consult with a GP first, but ultimately will likely need to consult a gastroenterologist. While these issues may be something minor and easily addressed, they should not be ignored. It is worth noting that GI irritation/inflammation can cause reactive thrombocytosis.

Wishing you both all the best.

Hi,

Is your daughter able to consult a gynecologist in Australia? Seeing her GP is 1st in line, yet having a specialist look into the blood issues is helpful. You did not mention if the blood is vaginal or anal. Wish her good health, yet she should not ignore any of these symptoms.

So sorry you are worried about your daughter - I know the feeling🤗I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with platelet levels 900 - am now on Hydroxycarbamide and 1 Aspirin a day for rest of my life😫Can she see another Haematologist? I also feel nauseous at times and lost my appetite - have backache too - can only work in mornings as get very tired. Never sure if meds or ET or both🤔. Be good if your daughter can be checked out by a different Haematologist. Good luck xx
