I was taken off warfarin at Easter as my liver was playing up a bit. Since then I've been injecting clexane into my stomach. However, it's getting a bit sore and just wondered if anyone injects into other parts of their body as well?
Regards
Mark

I don’t know about other injection sites but just want to say my son was born with heart disease and he has been on Warfarin for the last 6 years after his last surgery but he has been recently changed to Apixaban which is an alternative to Warfarin and you only have to have your INR checked once a year .
Would that be a suitable alternative for you ?

Hi Mark
I’m not on Clexane now but spent 7 to 8 months on it post my portal vein thrombosis in July 2012. As well as my stomach I did also inject into my thighs ( outer thigh) and found that ok. I did discuss possible sites with the health visitor who showed me how to inject on discharge from hospital. I can’t remember any other suggested sites as it’s a while ago now. I’d lost a lot of weight at time and stomach and thighs were best place for me as I had some flesh there. Your GP surgery may be able to advise. Good luck and hope you get some relief for your sore tum. Also as Helen said ask about alternatives. My partner has a clot in his leg and takes Apixiban and I know there are other possibilities.
