Pegasys or interferon alpha,

Reading alot of coments about pegasys,taken weekly,my interferon i take wen,sun,i know pegasys is slow release,i have been on interferon for 8 years,at first 4 times a week,down to two a week,my doctor has never said anything about pegasys,but on this forum many are doing well,injection weekly or monthy,

I've been on Pegasys for ET for nearly two years and find it easy to use and very effective. Essentially it's the same treatment but given in a different form, so if regular interferon is working well for you then you might want to stay with it.

The next generation treatment, Ropeginterferon, is now being trialled and rolled out - when that becomes more generally available it might be worth considering as it's designed to be injected just once every 2 or 4 weeks.

Andy, do you have any idea when Ropeginterferon will be available in Europe? Have tried googling without success. Thanks, Mary

Hi Mary - I'm not sure of that but it's quite advanced so my guess would be within the next couple of years. There is an interesting presentation on YouTube:
