Hi , I have just recently started on the pegasys weekly injections . I am travelling to Greece and wonder if anyone can recomend the best way to keep the medication at the correct temperature whilst flying and travelling. Is there a chargeable medication box which I could charge using a battery pack ?

some people use the same transportation kits that are used for insulin. I use a higher quality insulated "lunch bag" with the gel ice packs that the IFN is shipped in. I wrap the IFN in bubble wrap so it is not in direct contact with the ice pack.
I invested in a medigenix pack designed to keep drugs at the optimum temperature. They're a UK company I believe but can confirm they sell into Canada (maybe the US). I do long-haul flights and the pack I got promises 36 hours. It's bulky and I couldn't close my carry on with it inside, so I carry it in a grocery bag for easy access at security. It has a nifty spot for storing doctor letters and prescription copies. It's a 10 out of 10 for my needs.
There are smaller packs that have less guaranteed cooling time.
The specialist ice packs in mine are bulky and there's only room for five or six unopened boxes of interferon. I spent quite a bit of time figuring out internal compartment space in various options. There are loads of ones available for preloaded syringes used by diabetic - less options of you have a boxed drug like Peg is in Canada.

I use a Frio pack for insulin (I'm also diabetic) when travelling (I'm on hydroxicarbamide caps for my ET). I cool it in the fridge then place it in a small insulated bag, the sort used for sandwiches etc.You might also use a food flask as these have a wider spout which might accommodate your meds.

I just got back from Mexico short trip with my hubby. I just bring a soft cooler with ice packs. Take the medicine out for them to inspect so it doesn’t go through X-ray and they inspect the box. They never took it out of the box. Then I ditch the packs for the way back and I packed the needle in my suitcase to dispose of properly when I get home. Did the same thing when I went to Boston. It is actually really no big deal and was easy!
Hi. I travelled to USA last year and packed my Pegasys in a cool bag with ice blocks. My Peg was in its box and additionally covered so no direct contact with ice packs.
As it was a very long journey, allowing for getting to airport, actually flying, getting hire car, and then getting to place I was staying I did two things to help keep my Peg cool.
During the latter part of the flight I asked for some ice which I put into a freezer bag ( I’d taken with me). Another thing - which was so handy - I took some ice packs with me which are used for sports injuries. The ones you squeeze to make them go cold. They were my emergency back up and they worked a treat. Security were absolutely fine about them being in my hand luggage.
My Peg stayed cold for the duration.
Whilst in Florida I did buy a Yeti cool bag (a tip from someone on this site) which is so much better than the cool bag I used. I will be using it when I fly long haul this year. I will definitely be taking some sports ice packs with me again as back up.

I used the 4 All Family Voyager for a three-week trip to Spain. I found that I couldn’t trust the temperature in the room refrigerators so I kept it plugged in constantly. It has a rechargeable power bank for use while in transit. Available on Amazon.
I’ve been using a “Coolmeds” medication bag. It uses ice packs (provided) and has an internal thermometer. Have flown with it many times and have had no issues. There website is medigenix.co.uk
