The first meeting for 2017 will take place on Wednesday 18 January, 6 pm – 7.30 pm
Maggie’s Centre, Gate 3, Nottingham City Hospital Campus, Hucknall Road, Nottingham, NG5 1PH
The speaker will be Melissa Tyers, Myeloma and Haematology Complementary Therapist, who is part of the team in Hayward House which is a specialist palliative care unit in the grounds of the city hospital. To find out more about Hayward House and the services they provide please visit their webpage ... nuh.nhs.uk/our-services/ser...
Melissa will talk to us about complementary therapies. The term ‘complementary’ is used to describe therapies offered alongside traditional medical treatments, therefore ‘complementing’ the medical care given. Complementary therapies undertake a holistic approach to treatment, thus aiming to care for the whole person; supporting the physical, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of a person’s life.
The therapies available at Hayward House are: massage, Indian head massage, aromatherapy hypnotherapy/relaxation and visualisation, reflexology and shiatsu.
This MPN support group is free to attend, family and friends are very welcome to come with you, you do not have to book to attend, just turn up.
