Has anyone heard from Otterfield? Her name is Jennie and she had a SCT about a year and a half ago. She was very active on this sight until she had the transplant. I just want to know if she is okay.

Hey Cj... :-)

Trust you guys are well...

Yes, I too have often wondered about how Jennie was progressing etc...

Jennie very bravely was always wanting to share her ASCT journey with us all...

Hopefully, she's just off vacationing somewheres... 8-)

Glad you're following up Cj...

Best wishes

And she was very supportive of everyone on here. I sent her a private chat a few months ago and she never responded, which is unlike her. I hope she responds to this.

Having just read Jennies last couple of posts some time ago it would seem she had sadly relapsed quite dramatically. Though the last one gave some hope. From what i knew of her character there's no doubt Jennie would fight her setback with every ounce of her strength and I sincerely hope she is still battling. In true spirit she was concerned about her husbands recent diagnosis at that time.

It's a harsh reality of this type of Forum where living miles apart or in different countries you can become good or even close 'virtual friends' often sharing experiences and maybe aspects of family life, suddenly it ends and sometimes you never find out why.

I lost a good friend off this Forum a couple of years ago, I knew she was battling hard but it was a real shock to find out that she had passed from her Facebook page which her family updated. We exchanged messages only the previous evening and she seemed in reasonable spirits. I found her passing hard to come to terms with given our common bond and the friendship we forged over a couple of years of regular contact.

It's a good shout out to remember Jennie / Otterfield who contributed so much here and helped many with her good advice.

Regards -Chris

It’s true, Chris. Even though most of us haven’t met in person, some of us have formed a special bond with each other. Jennie is one of those people for me. Her kindness to others and bravery and positive attitude going into her SCT was an inspiration to all.

I hope you are doing well and enjoying life.

Warm regards,

Cindy

Hi Cindy , thanks for replying. I'm ticking along and being honest hope to start enjoying life again. Reason being I've had many months looking after my elderly Father who sadly passed not long ago. Caring for him and the manner of his passing have taken a heavy toll on me. Having said that I'm glad I was still around to be able to do it for him hard as it was. His passing leaves a big void and I miss the old man. Thats enough doom and gloom I don't want folk getting their little violins out, I'm sure I will get my mojo and zest for life back soon.

Hope you are doing as well as possible. Regards -Chris

M P Nbeing rather poorly & ages in hospital I was in regular touch with Peter as he is a potter & in N Z where I have close friends. You are so right ,just messages to each other without ever meeting becomes very special.Keep well Chris ,miss your posts & sure you have not aged at all! 💕🥰

Hi Sally thanks for your kind words, I intended to respond to you on another post a few days ago but alas unless I do things as they occur I'm afraid I don't always remember to go back to it which is why I eat only a half or two thirds of a loaf of bread nowadays, , the remainder having been cremated in the toaster due to my absent mindedness. Previously you mentioned your MF symptoms plaguing you which Im sorry about. It's not an easy thing to live with long term.

I still dip in and out here but developments in treatments have moved on considerably also much has been covered in detail over the years so there are only a handful of posts I feel I can contribute a view on or opinion about. Many of the good folk I often exchanged views with or had banter with in the Forum early days have gone for whatever reason. And of course I'm not the same person I was when I joined up here some 12 years since.

I do hope you hear from Peter he was a regular contributer and of course Jennie.

Take good care x (and I have aged terribly)

Thanks, Steve. Let’s hope that she reads this so she knows that we are all thinking about her and that she reaches out.

I hope you are doing well.

Well said Steve, I'm doing ok but I ought to change my profile mugshot because I've aged considerably in past couple years. In part due obviously to the march of time which I was told post SCT might be a quicker march for me and partly to the hand life deals to test your resolve.

Hope you are on an even keel my friend and not planning on taking up break dancing any time soon ref Ray Gunn 🦘 , ,

I agree. She was very disappointed that it wasn’t successful, understandably.

Glad you raised this. I believe she responded to someone's query a little time after she had posted that her SCT was not progressing well and I thought then how brave to be thining of someone else's problem.
