covid vaccination

I have Hemiplegic Migraine with very severe aura symptoms and hypersensitivities including to perfume and chemicals that have stopped me so far from daring to have the vaccination. I paralyse frequently. This leads to complete isolation.

I need an operation and so am thinking about having the vaccination to protect me from catching Covid in hospital. i would not be able to wear a mask during surgery.

I wondered if anybody had Hemiplegic migraine, particularly with severe aura and had had the vaccination. If so what impact if any did it have on your symptoms? I realise everyone is different but would help if I knew what others had experienced. Many thanks.

I have chemical sensitivity and used to get 25 migraines a month. 11 days I gave up all forms of dairy, my migraines stopped. A year later, I had pasta made in the US (unbeknownst to me, the wheat was treated with glyphosate before harvesting). I get migraines within 10 minutes of eata pasts made in thr US.

So, try giving up all forms of dairy for a mo th and see if your migraines improve.

thanks Cindy, that is kind of you to reply and glad it has helped you. It is so important to be diet aware I think. yes, I did not eat dairy for many years due to sensitivity. Can now manage a tiny bit. I am more concerned about the covid vaccination and how it affects people with Hemiplegic migraine particularly, whether it had short or long term deteriorative affect or bad reaction. .

I would not get the vaccine. The whole idea behind getting the vaccine to stop you from getting covid was all propaganda in the first place. Everyone I know who has gotten the vaccine has gotten Covid more than once and tested several times to see if they had covid and the covid test became positive only after they had covid for a week (thus they didn't isolate the 1st week they were most contagious). Whereas, those of us who were not vaccinated, tested positive a day or 2 after our first symptom.

I was told since I am chemical sensitive to stay away from the vaccine. It's not worth risking having a non-stop migraine due to all the chemicals in the vaccine. My cardiologist even suggested I not take it because too many of his patients had complications after the very 1st vaccine.

So, I personally would avoid getting vaccinated. Everyone you come in contact at the hospital should be wearing a K95 mask anyway. Not the flimsy ones that do no good anyway.

The pandemic has gone, you wont need it. Look up the many side effects of the jab.

Have you thought about speaking to The National Migraine Centre? I have no idea if they can help you but they obviously are in touch with many people who experience migraine and are a charity.

please do not take the covid vaccine. First of all it does nothing to prevent you from catching covid. I work in a hospital and 90% of staff here had 4+ jabs. They all had covid multiple times. There are horrendous side effects which are not being reported by the media and the hospital management is covering up. I have witnessed many patients including our staff getting strokes, paralyses, GBS, MS like symptoms post vaccination. A lot of these patients were previously healthy with no medical history. The hospital claims that all of these are incidental and no one can claim any damages. Staff are not allowed to discuss about vaccine being the cause of these. Look up Dr Suneel Dhand , Dr John Campbell and Dr Ahmad Malik on you tube and twitter

Thanks so much for taking time to reply. It really is very confusing and scary knowing and deciding the best course of action. Thank you.

Hi,

I get really severe migraine aura and also have allergies. I refused the Covid vaccine as a lot of people I know, have had bad reactions, some severe. It is just not worth the risk. The protection is very limited. No one knows how you or anyone will react to the vaccine. Friends still caught Covid. I had accupuncture in my left ear and this triggered an aura on the outer part of my left eye. Woke me up during the night…. very scary. So I would not risk it.

I feel I must add that I went for a flu vaccination as I had developed Asthma. This was back in 2002. I never had migraine back then but I had tunnel vision within a few minutes of receiving the jab. I thought it was was maybe due to tiredness but when I arrived home, I lost the vision in both my eyes for 4 hours. I was told it was a migraine without a headache, that anyone can have a migraine! I also lost the grip in my right hand. I saw a neurologist many months later, who suspected M.S. I was told many years later after them mis reading 4 scans that I had suffered an ischemic stroke caused by a blood clot. Also, it was a very rare part of the brain to sufffer a stroke. I do not smoke, have low B/P, slim build, never been over weight. Excercise, good diet. I had not been on holiday or travelled before taking the flu jab and was fine before taking it.

I am so sorry to hear what a terrible reaction you had. It is very hard to make informed decisions. I have never had a flu jab. So difficult to know what the impact will be. Thanks for taking the time to answer my post.

Hi. I agree with those who are encouraging you not to have the Vaccine for all the reasons noted. Before any surgery or hospital visit ensure that your Vitamin C and D levels are high as these have been shown to be good protection against Covid and also (wherever possible) try and get your fitness levels to your optimum Really sorry to hear that you suffer with horrendous migraines I have had them since I was 5 years old ( I am now 60) but recently they have improved which is a real blessing Hope this helps - I’m not a qualified medic by the way so please do your own research which I am sure you have done already 😀

Hello, since the most common strains of COVID virus are milder these days, catching COVID may not be a problem, besides vaccine does not provide 100% protection (no vaccine has ever had), so you may still catch COVID even if you are vaccinated. The first immediate few months after vaccination provides most protection due to the presence of large, active antibodies. So, in theory, even if you catch COVID, you should be able to fight it off better as opposed to no vaccination. However COVID vaccine has unpredictable side effects, you have to balance these before acting. As many have already advised - you may not need to vaccinate but I am sorry to say, ultimately you have to make this final decision. Please note- catching COVID can also leave you with lots of issues for months if not years if you are unlucky 😔 I myself had taken 3 doses based on my own judgement but everyone is different. I am unsure if taking vaccine gave me more migraine as I get these 20-25 times per month anyway!

thanks Troy. Your answer is very helpful and considered. It is complicated. I am sorry to hear about the high level of migraines you experience. I myself am paralysed repeatedly every day and night with other severe aura symptoms too. It is very hard to think let alone make such a big decision. Thanks for your reply.

Hi, I also have aura, almost all the time, and numerous sensitivities to anything that touches my skin. I have had 4 vaccinations to date. I had no reation to the the first two, and I had fatigue with the next two. All vaccinations were the mRNA Pfizer. Good luck!
