I haven’t needed to post for a long time. I used to suffer from crippling migraines. I suffered from a very young age. Now I’ve got older they’ve subsided and sometimes I can suffer from a headache which I’m sure is related to migraines. Nothing touches it other than the naramig which has been a lifesaver for my really bad migraines. My problem now however is that I occasionally get an aura migraine with no pain. Now I know there can be a slightly higher risk of stokes or heart problems if you suffer with auras. I have spoken to my Dr a while ago and she put me onto aspirin. I haven’t had an aura migraine for a long time now but I did yesterday. I’m wondering should I report it to the Dr or see how it goes?

Really? I didn't know aura migraine was linked with a slightly higher risk of strokes or cardiac issues... all I can tell you is I had aura migraine on and off for years (more on than off when I got past menopause, sometimes 3 a day, horrible), but I gave up dairy for another reason entirely and discovered it was cheese (which I used to eat at least daily) causing them. As long as I keep off the cheese, it doesn't happen any more, I've only had two in nearly 3 years, both the day after deliberately eating cheese. I never had any treatment for them, though I was once offered an epilepsy drug...
Certainly if you're worried, report it to the doctor.
Well that has surprised me. I wouldn’t have connected it to an allergy. I thought it may have been stress but I had a lot of stress the day after the aura migraine as my neighbour has been tested positive for Covid. I live in a retirement apartment and we use the same corridors. She is self isolating so if she keeps doing it we will all be ok. So if it was stress I would have thought I would have another one. I can’t think I’ve had anything different but I will certainly note what I eat if I have another one. Thank you for the info:
No one was more surprised than I was - just before changing my diet, I'd had surgery, and it took me three months to realise I'd not had an aura migraine - I couldn't work out why, was completely stumped, thought maybe it was to do with the surgery or something. Then someone on here pointed out I'd mentioned going vegan, so maybe leaving out dairy had made an impact... and of course, she was right. All those years of suffering aura migraine when it was something so simple...and I did used to eat quite a bit of cheese, certainly daily. I used to think mine might be stress too, or to do with bright light or whatever.... clearly not. I can now get away with having a small amount of cheese very occasionally, but only a very small amount....I never returned to dairy milk or yoghurt though. I wouldn't call it an allergy, but certainly an intolerance.
I'd recommend masking for when you use the corridors - my sister lives in a retirement complex and she always masks when she leaves her own apartment and uses the communal corridors. Hopefully you will get a vaccine soon...
I read in the NHS site about aura migraines and there used to be someone on the migraine site that recommended I see my Dr as aura migraines make you slightly more likely to have a stoke or a heart attack. When I had my first aura migraine I was filling out a form and all of a sudden I couldn’t read it. I’ve got macular disease and thought it may be that. Then the crystals started and right across my eyes were zigzag crystal. It was very pretty but unwelcome. I had a feeling it was an aura but didn’t know it connected with migraine. I tried to get in the Drs but they said they recommend people to the optician so I went there and he said it was aura migraines. At least it’s pain free. I don’t eat much dairy really. I have just a tiny bit of skimmed milk on my cereals and a yogurt at lunchtime. My bones are pretty bad so I try to have a little dairy. I’ve never been a lover of dairy things. I love cheese but don’t eat it very often. I’ve always worn a mask in here as there are a few that do all they are told not to. At a time like we are in it’s putting everyone at risk. Thankfully I’ve had my first vaccine so I should be 60 to 70% covered.
Doubt its dairy then, maybe something else you eat regularly - good you've had the vaccine, I had my first one last Tuesday - only just recovered, knocked me for six for a couple of days, but I'm very pleased to have had it, such a relief. My bones aren't great either at my age, but I take magnesium, calcium, Vitamin D3 and K2 supplements daily - they all work better if taken together. Dairy does not provide vitamin D nor magnesium... certainly my bones have not got worse since I stopped dairy 3 years back.
It just came out of the blue. I haven’t had one for maybe a couple of years. I was quite calm that day. I’ve been really stressed for the last couple of days as we have now got two covid cases in here. Maybe three or four but definitely two. And it’s the ones that just don’t care. That’s why I don’t think the aura migraine is stress. I will definitely keep my eye on what I eat if I get another. As for the covid I was talking to one of them three or four days ago. She wasn’t wearing a mask but I was so hopefully I will get away with it. You just don’t know who’s got it. I probably was just about the right space away. So keep your fingers crossed for me. 🤞🏻
You'll likely be fine if you had your vaccine 2/3 weeks or more ago... even if you get Covid, it should only be fairly mild, and that's what counts, not dying and not ending up in hospital on a ventilator.
I had my vaccination four weeks ago on Tesday coming. So yes I think I should be fine. I’m so glad I have had it now. I have been very careful but you never know who’s got covid when you are speaking to them.
Keep wearing your mask - I will, when my 3 weeks have passed, when I have every intention of actually going out to get petrol and maybe even pop in a supermarket or check out the plant stand outside Waitrose (first time since last August)🎉🎉 Seem such small things to celebrate, but it will feel like a real treat🤗
