I am sorry to hear that you are suffering. I find that once an attack has started all I can do is ride out the pain, though if it is a bad attack then the nausea is worst for me. If the pain is bad then I'll try mixing paracetamol and ibuprofen though I recently realised that ibuprofen was making me breathless so have stopped using it.

The only meditation technique I have found that helped a little was imagining a shard of cold glass being placed into my head.

Have you looked into prophylactic treatment - though that's usually where the migraine is chronic rather than episodic - ie depends on the frequency?

If you can talk to your doctor or a pharmacist and see what they can recommend.

Hope the pain goes soon, if it hasn't gone already.

Have you tried Triptans at all ? Sumatriptan can be bought over the counter but you’ll need a prescription for other types . Also try taking high dose (900mg ) aspirin with full fat Coke or strong coffee eg espresso . I usually take any painkillers with caffeine as it makes them work better . This doesn’t work for everyone as caffeine can make some people’s migraine worse .

I would agree with the above, only sumatriptan works for me. I was also told it’s good to take it with a fizzy drink as it gets into the bloodstream quicker

I stopped drinking caffeine so I could use it medicinally for migraines. I’d drink double strength high caffeine tea or a strong coffee. Some use ice on the base of the neck. Other than that I don’t know what to suggest. Fingers crossed it goes away soon.

Hi! Like you just a suggestion. A cup of strong coffee may help. I don’t get them any more thank goodness but what my Dr gave me was Naramig. They worked within an hour. They do leave you a bit like you have a hangover without the pain. Up until I had them I used to be in agony. Now I’m older I don’t get that any more. I do get the occasional aura migraine. Only one or two a year but no pain.

I use paracetamol immediately I sense the migraine is starting, in line with general medical advice the earlier the pain relief medication is taken, the more effective it becomes rather than allowing the pain to intensify.

Hope this helps

Sounds like you need more medical intervention, maybe go to the emergency room and they can give you an IV for quick acting. Maybe also consider getting an injection so when normal medication doesn't work the injection will.

codeine can make things worse so I’d avoid.

Ice packs, Aspirin, paracetamol and caffeine tablets may help but a triptan prescribed by your doctor or a gepant is prob your best option.

Sumatriptan works for me, usually combined with a short lie down. I also like to use those cooling head patches you can get.

Not what you're looking for?
