I have been on Sertraline several years for anxiety and depression; however my gp has now suggested Amitriptyline instead as concerned I have been on Sertraline for too long! She said it would be fine to mix both for 2 weeks until I see her next but I have dreadful side effects at mo, dizziness, confusion and extremely tired. Can anyone help please? Thanks

I have been on amitriptyline for years for migraine prevention and the doctor introduced sertraline for depression and anxiety. I took it for exactly one week in total, it was awful. Dizziness, fatigue, nausea, stomach cramps, felt like my head didn’t belong to my body. I called the doctor and he said to stop taking it straightaway. I also take topiramate for migraines so the three together was too much serotonin according to my doctor which was the cause of these symptoms. Might be worth a phone call to the doctor just to check to put your mind at rest? Hope this helps.

Many thanks. Have weaned off the Sertraline now so just taking Amitriptyline. So tired n lifeless all the time with confusion n vision problems also. May just give it another week to see how I go n possibly ring the surgery for a telephone consultation. No chance of face to face appointments anymore!

I saw my neurologist yesterday and he wants me to Emgality (galcanezumab ) for my chronic daily migraines. I live in Ireland . All the reviews on the USA sites were very negative and I do not know what to do. I had bad reactions both to Aimovig and Ajovy. If anyone in UK has tried Emgality and could let me know how they got on taking it .Many Thanks 195fifi.

I use Emgality and I have had no side effects. Emgality and Nurtec for breakthrough migraines have brought me sanity.

Have you taken any other preventative? Feverfew, magnesium glycinate? When I taken the magnesium at a high dose I get less painful migraines and less during rhe week. I also take injectable Imitrix and pill form.

I have never mixed meds. Like this before.

Hi how much is in the injections of the preventative I take the nasal spray of 20mg it works but not always also the feverfew does it work? I bought a box but scared to try and it’s £11 a box just cos mixing prescription and herbal can be bad I’m told and are your migraines chronic daily?? Or were they and have the become less of an issue?

6mg and it works immediately! Changed my life. I can get quick relieve when my head is really hurting.

Yes, Feverfew has been approved by the American Academy of Medicine. I take 2 @380. Am and PM. Then magnesium glycinate 3x a day 400mg. The lunch dose helps the most.

Hope this helps
