Have been a sufferer for years, but I am getting more anxious with each one. They really freak me out,
I take paracetamol / aspirin , but they always leave me feeling weird after, am sure anxiety is causing me to have more. Any advice on how to cope without worrying every day.

Have you tried a ‘triptan’? There’s a few to try, if the first one doesn’t work for you. I take rizatriptan once the aura is over, and paracetamol/cocodomol when it starts. Your GP will need to prescribe a ‘triptan’ for you.
I understand how you feel. When an aura starts , I really try to remind myself that I’ve had many, many migraines and I’m okay, that I know what to do and I’ll be out of action for a couple of days but that’s okay.
My migraines are chronic, and have really limited my life. But I’m now trying to get out more, having a plan as to how I’ll get home if one starts does help. Also, all my friends and family help me with this. Talking about it helps people understand what you’re going through and means they can support you.
Hi. Migraines and auras are awful aren't they because you can't drive, plan anything, feel ike days are wasted waiting for them to go which makes you more anxious. I think you could be right about anxiety not helping and completely resting and taking it is as say as you can, not thinking about the things that stress you out... easily said I know. I had migraines that lasted days in 1996 for months and then one or two a year for many years and nothing since 2013 so the last few months have been a shocker when they came back for days. I thought at the time it was hormones because I was pregnant back then but I now think it was stress because I had placenta previa. In the 1 or 2 a year since my eyes would close in but if I got rizatriptan in quick enough I might not even get the headache and the aura would clear quickly but lately they start in the night and I wake up with a mind blowing headaches and the aura is different... the walls are moving and the aura continues even if the headache improves. My GP has put me on the waiting list for the Migraine clinic but has also put me on naproxen (and omeperazole as NP can be bad for your stomach) and amitriptyline (prophylaxis/ to prevent them happening) and this has helped with the terrible pain and the auras. I hear that lots of people don't get on with naproxen but the above cocktail has worked for me. I try to lower the dose to see if I still need them and the symptoms come back so although I am not happy about taking so many meds I am happy they are working. The onlycare migraine cap is on offer on amazon at the moment and this is a game changer. I used cool strips before that and take magnesium. Sorry this is my life story and hope they improve for you soon.
thanks , getting them about every six weeks , now not really headache just a bit off balance and muzzy the day after, I do have neck discomfort though. But put that down to anxiety. It's a vicious circle i think.
hi, I had terrible migraine es in my 20s and 30s then nothing until my late 50s when I started to get the migraine aura but no pain just feel wiped out afterwards but sometimes they are real frightening even though I have had hundreds and yet when I suffered from migraine I never had them. To can get them almost every day for a week and then sometimes just one of two a month. I find the worst part is getting them when you are out and about I then go into panic mode.
they are horrible ,so random, had one last week whilst driving home from super market. Just wish they would go away , can't find any reason, but am living in fear every day. Making me really anxious. How do you cope?
I never had migraine auras until I reached fifty,I was having as many as six a month ,I believe hormones played a part as I was entering into menopause. Fridge lights ,car lights would trigger them, sometimes I wasn't sure what did . Staring at my phone too long would trigger them along with rose wine! Ten years down the line they have subsided greatly,I kept a diary of them and found when I suffered allergies in certain months would trigger them.
