Does anyone find they have what i nickname 'puffy days' where after, during  or even before a migraine your face completely changes shape, almost to a point of bloated puffiness!! Does anyone else notice this? know how to ease it or know why it happens??

It's to do with carb intake and hydration, you should read the book 'migraine sufferers who want to be cured' and join the Facebook page . I've followed this protocol for 9 months and seen impressive results so far

Thanks for this. I too have that puffiness mainly around eyes and alterations in urine production. I just investigated your link and bought the fighting the migraine epidemic book on my kindle. Well she seems to be talking about me! A vegetarian with low salt, low blood pressure etc so going to finish the book and try the protocol.

I have had this happening for a few years now. It's new for me - never used to get it. Not just face but whole body - gain/lose half a stone in weight overnight. My face looks dreadful when it happens - bloated, pale and sagging - very unhealthy. It happens on a weekly cycle.

Sorry I haven't noticed my face bloating but I do pee like mad and after a bad head I crave salt then sweet food like salt and vinegar crisps then chocolate ( not a trigger for me).  I do have a problem with my left eye, the side I get my migraines on, my eyelid has dropped significantly.  I asked the Neurologist and he said they couldn't do anything about it.  It's always noticeable but much worse during an attack.  I'm very interested in the carb intake Julia talks about, will look that one up thanks.

I get droopy left eyelid but ive also noticed a dent in my forehead just above my left eye too😮 i get localised pain in the dent which effects my left eye, like pressure pain in the eye. Recently diagnosed with TMJ / TMD, scheduled for a jaw operation on 8th April which i hope resolves all my issues.x

I've got a dent and a deep groove between my eyes but on the left only. I don't have any wrinkles on my forehead if I frown. The Nuerologist said its all nerve damage.  Good luck with the jaw op keep us up to date sounds interesting

Interesting! My neurologist said it could be a sinus infection, i honestly think they just guess because their never consistent . It will be interesting to see if getting my jaw Op cures most of it? I'll defo let you know. Thanx x

Yes I get the puffy face and puffy eyes as well.I call them my ugly days! I also notice excessive peeing. I also have the droopy eyelid. Sometimes in photos I look like I've had a stroke! I was put on indapamide to treat high blood pressure and the puffy days are definitely less. In the last year my almost daily migraines and cluster headaches have suddenly improved somewhat. I can now get runs of 10 days with out having to resort to triptans! I'm not sure if this is due to my age [54] or the fact that I started taking magnesium glycinate 500mg.

My dads recently mentioned that he thinks my blood pressure needs to be monitored, i always notice on pictures taken on my puffy days that i don't even look like myself , i look like i've had some kind of reaction and no matter how much makeup i use i cant hide how exhausted and ill i look.

Yes I have a puffy face too. Pee for England sometimes 5 times in the night. Can't stop yawning either. I am being treated for Hpylori at the moment and I'm hoping to god that this might have been the cause of my constant cluster migraine

Iam the same! i notice that I yawn constantly when im due an attack, i find it hard to spot attacks coming because i have them constantly they over lap. But my family and friends always notice because i yawn way to much and get a runny nose.

Yes my blood pressure goes crazy when I have an attack. It goes very high and difficult to bring down to normal.

All these symptoms are common for migraine..including migraine pain in the sinus (it isn't sinus pain unless it is an infection, otherwise it is migraine :().  My bodily functions go into overdrive too including peeing, yawning and sneezing. My face gets bloated etc too :(

A great book to check out is The Migraine Miracle by Josh Turknett, M.D..  He is a Neurologist and has ended his migraine (and most of his patients migraine) by following a Ketogenic diet.  I bought his book and am following his protocol and have gone from 30 migraines per month...to 7 (this month) and 4 of them are weather related ( crazy snow in April??!! ). I am off all my meds,  plus things like sugar/grains/ anything processed..and any migraine I do have  mostly just make me confused and moving a bit slow...I haven't had head/ neck/shoulder pain in a few months. He explained I was also in Rebound headache from daily drugs so I took care of that first to break the cycle.

A really cool thing I learned in January was I was low on salt, I was drinking a lot of water but I was peeing it all out AND I was getting dehydration migraine due to it!  When I began this protocol I was told when I felt a migraine coming on to immediately have a mug of the saltiest water I could stand and follow it up with lots of fresh water. My family doctor is ' suspect' of this - but he isn't arguing with the results!

Meggietye you sound like you're on the same sort of protocol as me. No refined carbs / grains/sugar.

One thing to note for everyone is that puffiness is caused by sugar and too much urination is too little salt ... Read the one of the books reccomended here and start to feel better!

Puffiness is very common, as is one eye smaller--droopy--than the other. Urination, also anxiety, nausea, yawning, craving sweets or salt. All very common migraine prodromes.

Yes I have this because my migraine is caused by inflammation. I have an auto immune disorder which causes the migraine. My face bloats up really badly when I am having attacks.
